EXCITING!! 2 different blue Entolomas in one hunt!? Leptonia what???

Habitat:
Where does it grow? Eg. woods, pasture, state, province, country, altitude, etc. What does it grow on? Eg. soil, dung, wood (dead, living, what kind of wood?), etc.
in needle litter and moss. mixxed cedar,fir,hemlock,maple birch forest.
Gills:
Color, attached/not, gills/pores, etc.
creamish clor, not quite bright white for both of them

Stem:
Length, diameter, color, texture, hollow/solid, thin/thick, etc.
specimen 1 has a 1/8-1/4 inch thick stem. blue only where exposed to air, white underneath when you pull them up. very twisty curvy stems.
spec 2. thine striahgt stem.intense blue all the way to stem butt.

Cap:
Diameter, color, texture, conical/spherical, convex/concave, etc.
spec 1-convex. blue.
spec 2-convex but brown.darker in the center of the cap.

Spore print color:
Very important!
in process for both of them

Bruising:
Color that the mushroom bruises, if any.

Other information:
Scent of the mushroom, anything else you think is important, large close-up pictures showing stem, cap and gills.

specimen 1 -blue mycena or blue entoloma? the whole time i was thinking mycena, then i see in the audobon that there is blue entolomas too. :shrug: thats what you fellas are for. :smile: beautiful mushroom regardless.



specimen 2 - this has to be a Mycena. look at how blue that stipe is! pretty cool. too bad i only found 1 lonely specimen.

All of your mushrooms are Entoloma subsection Leptonia.

what about specimen 2? that is a totally different mushroom.
the first ones i agree with enotloma. :smile:

not sure, but ya alan your right, they are both leptonias, but which ones?

maybe one day i will get a scope. i'm making a few prints if your interested. then i will send some specimens to the university of B.C. (UBC) as very few if any leptonias have been documented in B.C.

i was like a kid in a candy store bouncing around the forest.
we found one patch that was growing upside down in a dark little cave thing under the root of a tree. the pic didnt turn out good tho.


the blue stem printed nicely and i got 3 good prints of the totally blue ones.
