My cats' fleas, and giving them a bathy poo.
    #13191007 -

So, I am unsure on what to do. My cats have fleas and I don't have meds for them. Which sucks, but you gotta do what you gotta do, so I was thinkin about giving them a bath, would this get rid of them? Cats are a pain in the ass to give baths I know that from experience when my mom and stepdad gave them baths.

I know I can't get water in their ears/eyes and I'll be ok with that. What kind of water should I use, really warm just not hot, room temp, I would imagine not cold, but idk bout that or soap and shampoo I got pantene pro v and some color shit for dyed hair is that ok? What else kills fleas?

Flea collar. Do not use human products on it, buy some cat shampoo if you can. If not, just rinse it out with lukewarm/warmish water.

As someone who has been working with dogs and cats in veterinary and kennel settings since I was 16 years old (5 years ago), I can tell you that flea collars suck, and a bath will not get rid of the fleas.  To kill fleas within an hour, you should go to the vet and get a Capstar pill to feed to your cat.  The fleas will die and fall off your cat within the hour.  These pills are very cheap.

To prevent fleas from infesting your cat in the future, I would recommend a monthly pill called Comfortis.  It works better than Frontline and Advantix, and is about the same price if not cheaper (depending on where you go).  Other animals cannot be poisoned by it, as it is a pill that your cat will eat and not a spot-on liquid or a collar that will be on the surface of your cats fur.

If your cat NEVER goes outside, comfortis may not be necessary after the first month.  I would still give it to the cat the first month though, just because fleas will very likely be in your house for up to 30 days after jumping off your cat (or you).  Spray your whole house with flea killer and you can take some time off that, but I would still give the cat some Comfortis after giving her the Capstar just to make sure that all the fleas (larva and adults) will be killed within the month.

Sweet, how expensive is that Capstar pill? Are there any side effects? I have a longhair cat, should I bathe it after I give it the pill so the fleas don't just sit on my kittys fur dead? It's an obvious question but I just wat to be sure.

This guy knows what he's talking about!  I've also been working in the veterinary field for several years and Capstar is an amazing little pill.  You can literally watch the fleas fall off and die within 30-1hr....  It won't prevent them from getting re-infested though
