Sorry kid, you're the ignorant fuck who never spent anytime with underprivileged kids. What I stated was 100% valid. I grew up underprivileged, I had friends who's moms gave them money to go buy clothes, when they couldn't even buy groceries. It's pretty common that poor folks are embarrassed to be poor. I know I was.

Being poor, and embarrassed about it, doesn't make them "hardcore", or "legit". Just poor and embarrassed. It sucked, yeah. But those of us who get out are proud of the fact we got out. I'm not "hardcore" because I walked to school, uphill, both ways in the snow(no exaggeration there), I was just another kid who did what his struggling single parent told him to do.

Poverty is sad, but the ignorance that surrounds it is even more depressing. I'm not "cooler" because of my shitty upbringing, but neither are the rich kids. We all make do with what we have, and good parents try to make that apparent. I had some well off friends who's parents were WAY harder on them then my mother was on me. 

The stereo type doesn't fit. It's more like 50% of the population in general has the "I deserve free shit" mentality. That 50% is rich, poor, and everything in between.

The demographics you are implying are false.

My family was poor when I was growing up. My parents drive beaters for the first 15 year of my life. I went to a public school, I watched tv on a black & white, ate canned spam and canned fruit, wore cheap and worn out clothes & shoes because that all we could afford. I knew the other kids had more money, but I didn't really care and I never felt underprivileged or disadvantaged.

I really glad my family was poor. It would have been much worse having the other kids hate me because my parents had money.

Sounds a lot like me actually, the being poor and feeling bas about it part. I was raised in a ghetto but went to rich white schools, but neither I, or the other poor kids in my school bought expensive shit to show off.

Rich parents are really hard on their kids about school work, not about being a spoiled little rotten shit. Obviously, because almost every rich kid is a spoiled little rotten shit.

Being poor isn't something to brag about.  It's not something to be ashamed of either.

I know a lot of poor people, but none who brag about it.  I think what a lot of people are proud of is overcoming challenges associated with being poor.

I did not realize that I had implied that I was in anyway proud, empathic, sad, angry or even displayed any type of emotion at all.

Perhaps you need to work a little on how you infer things, with special attention being paid to the inferences you make when nothing is implied.

In other words, it would seem that you are reading more into the situation than is really there.

Perhaps you do this often in real life as well?
