let me guess...u have not seen bassenctar live? cuz only someone who hasnt seen him live would say that, even people who dont like bassnectar and have seen him will at leats admit his shows are fucking insane...listeing to an artist at your house and seeing them live are completely different things, u never know how good a band is til u see em live

bassnectar is bigger than so many electronic artists (in the US at least, where hes from)...his music is so far ahead of the game its not even funny



I've seen him 3 times.  When the biscuits are "on" and not just noodling, that is my definition of insane.  Shpongle is insane live.  Tool is insane live.  In no way does Bassnectar compare to those acts/bands.  To be fair, I'll be hitting Bassnectar in Tallahassee when he comes through soon.  I'm not saying he sucks; what I am saying is that he is WAY overrated.  He's consistent at least.

Edit:  Moreover, how exactly is bassnectar ahead of his time again?  Justifying his "badassness" by saying he is bigger than so many electronic artists in the US is at least nonsensical considering (and I think most agree here) that the best DJ work is not domestic.  There is unfortunately little market for it.

I dont see it, I dont get why so many people are so nuts about Bassnectar, to me their isnt muhc special or unique about his music. Idk maybe its just me. Music is always changing, I think the next big big thing will be a melding of all the senses into one type of performance, mixing medias and what not, which is already happening very quickly.

I treated raja ram to some of my dmt, he was very impressed, was kinda fun smoking dmt with someone who worked with Shpongle, super chill dood too.

have u seen him live? cuz that would explain why u dont get it...i love nectar cuz his live shows are in-fucking-sane..great crazy crowd, great drugs, great songs and great lightshows/images...and the energy he brings live is more than what most DJs do, especially considering he does a lot more work onstage than a lot of other DJs

Dewd take a listen to this cd (preferably while on a good dose!) -

Shulman - "Endless Rhythms of the Beatless Heart"

Shpongle used to be my favorite music, then I listened to this shulman CD and it completely blew me away and is my number one favorite CD still. Track one is the song I play every single time as I blast off to hyperspace!

Other notable artists just as good if not better than shpongle -

Cydelix - The Right to Remain Silent
Capsula (similar to shpongle very great has a glitchy beat sound)
Kick Bong (His first CD A Cup of Tea? is crazy trippy and kinda dark and his second Flower Power is the most chill psy CD ever)
Isaak Hypnotizer - 1 Freedom (Fucking amazing kickin CD)
Ott - You should know this guy
Kuba - (Great Music)


Also if you havent listened to them PLEASE download Natural Born Chillers vol 1 and 2 they are both fucking amazing compilation psy chill / dub cds. you will be doing yourselves a favor. Put together by Shulman himself I believe?

Ibiza Lounge Spirit, Kumharas Ibiza, Mar Y Tierra, and Mountain High are other great compilation albums.
There are many otheres but these are some I dont  hear mentioned often! TRUST ME! GIVE A LISTEN!

hey check out aphex twin and ozric tentacles-- i didnt read all the responses so forgive a potential repetition :laugh:
also tortoise is big with some of my colleagues

im also personally a huge fan of kaada/patton and if your into more simplistic suggestive vocals check out acidbath for a metal/grunge vibe or dax riggs ( who is the vocalist now gone solo )
