sterility is going to be your main problem. Honey naturally fights off contamination, but the chances of keeping diluted honey around for an extended period of time without refrigeration are slim. Even with refrigeration it probably would last a month month and a half tops. I doubt if your mom will believe the capsules are for a science project anyway. The reason mycelia are able to form in honey water is because the honey is diluted. That is why fresh mushies can be stored in pure honey and the honey does not colonize (just turn blue). Hope this helps.

Mom will not know about capsules bro, possibly about some things, but thats it. A month and a half seems ~ok, that would only be about 8 jars a year for keeping my strain, as long as its cheaper then a syringe or print.

I'm somewhat familiar with using honey to store mushrooms. Can this be used to store fresh shrooms for long periods of time? Is it a way to avoid drying? If someone can led me to a tek id be cool.[This message has been edited by Agent (edited April 19, 2000).]

the life span of honey water is limited by the amount of honey present. when the myc. consumes all the honey, it will die. so make big jars, quarts, if you want long term storage, and put them in the fridge after 1 week to germinate. as far as storing wet shrooms in honey, it works fine. there's a site on the web called blue honey, do a search. they have the 'tek' there.------------------ Visit http://www.drooldonkey.org Global Psychedelic Community, Forums & Chat, Teks & Tips.
