I've seen that video and it is fucked up. The Alligator Snapping Turtle could be fed large goldfish and atleast they would be in there natural environment and so have a better chance of getting away. Besides, being bottom dwellers thats usually what they feed on.

Dropping rats into a tank to feed a snapping turtle and filming it is sadistic.

If the snapping turtle was in the wild and happened to eat a rodent that was swimming across or on the bank, thats life. The rodent has a better chance of getting away therefore its fair.

The snappers are some prehistoric looking beasts if ever there were some.  I had to shoot several out of this pond on our property last summer because they kept mangling the feet of ducks that were using it to rest on their journeys.  It was pretty fucked up to have to shoot them like fish in a barrel, but you wait long enough and they have to come up for air.  Once I saw what they were doing to the ducks I didn't mind it so much.
