anybody had a serious anxiety problem AND got over it?
    #13005662 -

i'd like to hear only from those that have overcome it, only since that's most useful for those of us with anxiety issues. please, share your story... tell us how you "got" the anxiety, how it was, how you ended up overcoming it.

i had severe anxiety issues my whole life. i was eventually able to overcome the anxiety after multiple trips on LSA... now i dont necessarily think the LSA cured the anxiety rather the realization of the divine.

I realized after experiencing ego death and a kundalini awakening that our anxiety comes only from the illusion that we have ANY control over this trip. creation stands outside of the experience of time, everything was created rather than everything is happening.

The future is laid out for us regardless of the experience of free will. We must realize that God is in control and the anxiety comes from trying to, or continuing to think that you have the ability to mold your life to YOUR will rather than his...

To be quick and simple; Best way for me was to stop smoking weed, face all the causes head on and keep forcinmg myself into situations that produced anxiety until my body and mind learned to be calm there instead.

I've always had anxiety issues, the severity varies and is mostly brought on by social situations. A few months after my dad passed away, when it started to really hit me that he was gone, I began to develop a severe social anxiety disorder. I started to avoid leaving the house unless I absolutely had to, would wake up early so I could go to the grocery store when it was almost empty because having someone behind me in line look at me the wrong way might trigger a panic attack. If the cashier was cute I would break out in a cold sweat and not be able to look her in the eye.

You never really overcome it completely, you just have to learn to recognize and deal with it. One time I was drinking with my brother and he put it this way: "You have to keep doing things that terrify you - it's how you know you're still alive."

I used to meditate regularly, and use mantras when I felt the fear coming on (paraphrasing Frank Herbert: I will not fear. Fear is the mind killer. Fear is the little death that brings total oblivion. I will face my fear, let it wash over me and through me, and when it is gone only I will remain). But the important thing is to learn to recognize the irrationality of your anxieties. Ask yourself: what's really so bad? Why don't I just...? You have to stop yourself thinking about the worst thing that could happen and instead think about the best thing that could happen. Yeah that sexy thing could just laugh at you and walk away but who's to say she doesn't have a thing for dorky guys that she's never been able to fulfill because we're all to chicken shit to ask.

You never know until you try and not knowing is worse than failure.

i disagree somewhat with the idea that you must learn to LIVE with anxiety

Anxiety is a plague of America, our lifestyle has created it and it is our bodies way of telling us we are not living the right way...

The American pursuit is what??? to make lots of money and then yell at your wife for blowjobs in the hot tub/??? please-

find out what makes you happy, money or contentment and then pursue it... if its the money expect to take the anxiety with you-

i repeat:
The future is laid out for us regardless of the experience of free will. We must realize that God is in control and the anxiety comes from trying to, or continuing to think that you have the ability to mold your life to YOUR will rather than his...

so you WILL be where your supposed to be when you be there... have faith

try meditating and contemplating God on your next trip, aim for ego death- Trip ALONE!!!    seek and ye shall find, at the onset of the trip expect the overcoming of the anxiety to be the focus of the trip and listen to the spirit

Heres a relevant quote by Baba Ram Dass (if you dont know who he is you SHOULD being a tripper):

There isnt a push for contentment in our culture because were afraid the wheel of progress will stop if everybody is content...Weve all pushed- and achieved- and realized our dreams...Thats alright.... but are you content?

 Mental diseases are a very real phenomena. Telling someone that their anxiety is caused by them not living by God's plan is only a few steps removed from trying to cure schizophrenia by fumigating the patient's vagina.

I agree with you that meditation can be a great tool. However recommending unmonitored psychedelic self-therapy to someone with anxiety issues is irresponsible. That's why I neglected to mention that I have used mushrooms for self-therapy. It may or may not have helped but it's not something I would recommend to anyone who doesn't have a very well trusted friend or lover to look after them.

i would have to ASSUME someone trolling the shroomery boards is experienced enough to have a theraputic session alone.... i wouldnt recommend a non experienced tripper trip without a sitter...

i mention tripping alone for this reason... i have many friends who have never had a "bad trip" which is essentially a trip in which you begin to analyze yourself in an uncomfortable way. It is the difficult part but also theraputic.

this same person who is a regular LSD tripper has never experienced ego death, partially because he is always with other people distracting him from a bad trip,

if you dont know its OK to let yourself die while tripping you dont know to let it happen
once you let go, its beautiful and you become ONE WITH THE LIGHT

the simple realization of this cured my anxiety, not LIVING IN GODS PLAN, but understanding it through a trip- when you understand the problem it isnt a problem anymore....

i do not recommend fumigating vaginas

I had an axiety growing up going to public places where there would be a crowd, such as concerts.  But i kept going to concerts, i would just get sick as hell before i left, throwing up, shits, but i would get high and just go and once i got to the show, and the show started, i would be fine.  I also got anxiety going to college classes, but after a while, it just went away.  I guess my anxiety wasnt that severe, never passed out or had a fast hearbeat, but just keep putting yourself in situations where your anxiety is going to go up and maybe you will get use to it

My girlfriend had serious anxiety. She had major panic attacks and was prescribed xanax. She basically became a hermit crab and would not leave her house...literally. When I came back into her life I PUSHED her to come out and do things...kind of slowly broke her out of the shell and offer a helping hand.

I don't know exactly what it was about me pushing her, but it helped her 100%. She is no longer afraid to leave, and rarely ever has panic attacks. She has since stopped taking xanax and is living life wonderfully.

I can't tell her story from the 3rd person as well, so if youre really interested I could have her make a post.

if she feels her story may help, and she feels naturally compelled to post, then by all means.

I also got over an anxiety / depression problem that I had for 8 years (of unknown origin), on my first (and so far, only) LSA trip!

Unlike yours, though, it was the most horrible experience in my life, I had no 'realizations' and I could not get to sleep, but the next day was amazing.  And it hasn't gone away since... and it has been almost two weeks.

I used to always be looking for ways to get high... Listerine, Robitussin, Codeine Cough Syrup, Weed, Opiates, other pharmaceuticals, you name it, and in fact, that is what I was trying to do that time i took the Morning Glory seeds.

Now, I have lost that urge.  Regular life, especially people, get me high now.

And I have no explanation for it, besides the fact that the horrible LSA trip had something to do with it.

For me it was having a couple bad trips on shrooms, nothing will scare you that much after that, then meditation and learning to channel my chi, that's what all my anxiety was, chi / kundalini that I didn't know how to deal with.

Vespenessa and kundalini meditation is where you should start. If you want to actually get results that is.

Be careful with the kundalini though, that shit can cause some problems if you go to far too soon with it.

For me, it was a combination of factors, diet, excercise, quit abusing the fuck out of every drug I could find, and realized I was the one causing myself stress,.

Yeah, I also realized that I was the one causing myself stress.  (The morning glory experience didn't have a part in this, though)

It came in little tiny discoveries, over a couple years, that I could ease the mental burden my just not caring about certain things that didn't matter, that for some reason were bothering me before constantly.

I'd say effort and practice, and just experience in general, in day to day life helped with about 30% of my anxiety.  The rest was practically obliterated on that fateful day, 2 weeks ago.

Pretty amazing, and I can't comprehend how it happened.  People seem to have these mystical and amazing 'revelations' while under the influence, but even after several experiences, mostly good, they manage to only slightly help their sober life.

As opposed to my case, where the most depressing, anxious, and fearful 6 hours that had me literally groveling on the ground ended with me waking up to an emotionally stable version of myself.

People often say you shouldn't fight the experience, let it take you wherever.  But I fought it tooth and nail (It's a long story, but I was paranoid about getting caught, kicked out the house, jailed, etc. because the setting was my last day of community service at a Catholic Church) and still benefited from it.
