The passionflower vine does indeed have MAO inhibitors. Some of my friends don't like the taste it leaves when you smoke it.. but I really don't mind. Then again, I don't smoke tobacco and I prefer drinking to smoking pot, so that may be some of the cause.

A bowl or two gives you a very relaxed feeling, like I said. Anyone who has them around but hasn't given it a shot yet should do it and report back.

Just avoid eating the purple fruits, heh.

There's nothing wrong with eating the purple fruits, it's just another species.

id say if u did smoke it, use the leaves, i notice smoking flowers of any kind (besides cannabis flowers) is usually sorta harsh unless dried only partially..

You have to cure cannabis flowers for the smoke not to be harsh, so I guess it goes for all flowers.

Smoking any wet material will be more harsh because in addition to the burning cellulose and oils and whatnot, all the water content is vaporized into hot steam.

I would dry anything you plan on smoking, whether by sun/fan/desiccant or whatever.

I got a bunch of leaves harvested, and they are almost dry. These seem like that would cure nicely:grin:I'm going to do some more research on the Passion plant,it seem like there is more to this plant that meets the eye;)

After a little bit a research, it seems I was mistaken. Looks like nearly all members of Passiflora do cyanogenesis (creation of chemicals that break down into cyanide in your stomach) up until their fruits ripen. Some species' fruits turn purplish (P. edulis), while others follow a green to yellow tint until reaching orange (P. caerulea), but apparently this isn't any indication of cyanogens.

I believe though that the cyanogens are minimal enough to be of no major concern, except of course in the case of P. caerulea, or so I have read.

no what im saying is, the leaves are not as harsh as flowers.. even dried, flowers arent as good of a smoke as leaves... in any case really.. even with water lily's the pads smoke way easier / taste better..

and ive smoked the leaves from my incarnata its fine, but it hasnt flowered yet, i imagine the flowers would be better for tea

and on the cyanide note,

many if not the majority of fruit, contain cyanide in their seeds, and you can eat the seeds with no ill effects..
\ in fact, they say that the small amount of cyanide type comppounds in apricot seeds, can actually kill cancer cells etc.. so i imagine it wouldnt be that much a difference with a fruit that produces the same compounds in its actual fruit, and not just the seeds..
