Do these not turn a dark purple/black and go all wrinkly when they are ripe?

Cheers

I've found those everywhere this year. the very first one had a sweet fruit, clear seeds, every single one since had little to no fruits, many abort, no viable seed production, but beautiful fragrant flowers. I tried to take a cutting, but its tricky, I may try an air layer if its not too late or next year.

if not ill get a producing variety and grow it indoors, they have captivated me, can't wait to get one in my indoor!

Nice find! you've been busy!

How do you eat them? Cut them open and collect the pulp? I've always found the skins seemed like they shouldn't be eaten.

I've been meaning to collect a bunch of seeds while I still can. I may try to take a cutting this year, but I'll need to get some hormones for rooting. All the past attempts at taking cuttings have failed for me.

Cut em in half, scoop goop into mouth with spoon.

Or... cut / bite hole and slurp / eat out.

Anyone got a suggestion for indoor species for fruit and beauty/aroma. I have been trying to get passaflora incarnata, because its wild local, but the fruits aren't worth an indoor spot in my grow room. I was thinking purple passion, because from seed it only takes 1 season to fruit, but if I could find old enough cuttings of something else.......

edited to add "incarnata" I left out

Do the seed pods on these always stay green, or do they eventually turn red? I ask because there was a passion flower species we used to eat as kids as it grew wild everywhere. I really want to grow it, but have been unable to track it down. I had though it might be incarnata since the flowers look the same, but it had red fruits when they were fully ripe.

These fruits turn brown when fully ripe, and are not the kind used in domestic foods.

*sigh* I'm beginning to think I'm going to have to go back to Belize if I ever want to grow these. Thanks for the info.
