Suspected Reishi / Ganoderma

Howdy y'all, I'm pretty sure I got this one pegged as a Ganoderma Lucidum, found in June in Wisconsin on a dead oak stump.  The largest one is about 11 inches across!

The top is a shiny, smooth lacquer-y skin and the underside is spongy.  It's not hard & firm like I'd expected it to be.

Can anyone confirm visually the likelihood that what I'm looking at here is the real deal?

Yeah, I'm gonna try and take some tissue clones tonight on agar & then inoculate sawdust blocks later.

Then slice up / dry / grind / make tincture.

In my neck of the woods i could find enough in a couple days to dry and use all year.

Reishi can be hard to grow on your own. If your looking to grow them for educational purposes then thats awesome. If your looking for quantity for medicinal use for a long period of time you would be better off trying to find hemlock forests.

Certainly appears to be varnish caps to me. We have quite a lot of them in this region.
