i will try o find a good link if i get some time in the next few min.

they are made into tea wich gives a strange neutral engergy to the body and muscles. it can enhance the appetite and has great immuno-enhancing and anti-tumor properties. it should be cut into small pieces and made into a strong tea. it does not compare in eficiacy for most speciic uses [except the anti-cancer peoperties] to most modern pharmacological methods but it is a powerful gift from the forest. keep tem and usethem regualrly if you wish to see what nature can do for your day to day healthful living practices.

Hey thanks man,I'm still surfin the net.

Do you just cut them into small pieces and dry them like that,or dry them whole,or use them fresh and how much do you use.

Sorry,I have so many questions.

I'm still looking for info-sites

uness they are waterlogged, they are pretty much dry to begin with and wil dry whole. if they are soaked, you might slice them thin and dry them then store them in a cool, dry place.

good source. tehy fruiting habbit information is a bit off however because in north america it will fruit from other trees. i believe the tree i found my reishi [probably Ganoderma tusage, for it's growth on a conifer] on last year was spruce.

Hey doc, nice collection.

Those are definately "Reishi" mushrooms.
-Reishi grow pretty much year-round in florida..

Yours are definately a type of Ganoderma.
-But there are said to be (at least) a couple different species of them, in florida, G. lucidum is one of them, G. tsugae i believe is another, and i haven't quite yet figured out how or if they can be told apart macroscopically.

Both (and all) species of Ganoderma contain medicinal properties.

The other week i finally got the courage to cook up a old dried specimen and made tea out of it.
-The tea tasted like shyt.
-i just cut them up into 1/4 pieces, boiled them for a while, strained and mixed with honey and drank.. im still alive and didnt die from poisoning lol!~

Nice collection, did you find them all growing from the same area or the same stump?

I will go back and get more details of where and what they were growing on.But all of them were attached to some part of the tree.

As to what type of tree, crap,I wasn't paying attention to that-I was more interested in getting those flying terradactyl(sp?) skeeters off my back, those bastards can bite.

There were pines and oaks and palms and palmettas.

Most of them were coming out of the ground around the base of old stumps-that is all I can say for now.

doc i usually just sit them on the shelf or counter top, and they become completely dry within a few days or a week.
they dry nicely that way, i have never used a dehydrator for them..

now that you found them and identified them once, you'll end up seeing them around much more often..
-i find them all the time, here in s/w fla., very common, and where you find them they usually keep putting out several to many more flushes, but you have to be patient.

it is mostly a matter of fruiting habbit i believe. if TM comes around today, i'm sure he'll have the answer [he always does ].

all of teh *reishis* have the same properties.

if they where fruiting at the base of a stump then they where growing from the rootwood.

Congratulations, beautiful find. You are a very lucky man :thumbup:

Let's make a Ling Zhi tea!

1. Cut it into chips of appropriate size and put them into a pot (clay pot or glassware preferable to a metalic container).
2. For a person daily dosage of 3-5g, pour 3 bowls of water and boil for about 50 minutes with weak heat.
3. It is better to reduce water and boiling time when you make the tea with already boiled Ling Zhi.
4. You may mix the 1st, 2nd and 3rd decoction.
5. You might want to prepare 2-3 day portions at a time.

It is better to take the brew steadily for a long time than to drink much decoction within a short period. You'd better drink the pure decoction without adding any refined sweetener. However, when you can not drink the pure brew because it goes against your stomach, you may boil the ling zhi chips with some licorice roots, jujubes and Chinese matrimony vine fruits. Otherwise, you may add honey rather than refined sugar to the brew.

Those are very nice. I recently found some Turkeytails, but I forgot like an idiot and ran them over with a lawn mower. I was pissed off like no other. Well nice find. Do you want to trade for some?
