Carwin-Lesnar

This main event is an indication that the UFC's finally reached heavyweight supremacy.


Something we haven't seen since like, 2001, the UFC heavyweight belt will actually have some meaning behind it and not just be scoffed at.




My only gripe with this event is what the UFC has always done, which is water down their fight cards.


Again, you get one block buster fight, and a bunch of shit mediocre fights people kind of half-heartedly try to care about.





I think this matchup boils down to ring rust, and Brock has alot of it. 


I think Carwin matches up incredible well against Brock, and makes this an incredibly challenging fight. 


As we've seen with tons of fights, when two strong wrestlers get in the cage, it can often lead to a slugfest  (examples?  Griffin-Edgar, Kawajiri-Alvarez). 


To be honest both guys have incredible sloppy and technically awkward striking.  I dont care if Carwin KOed Frank Mir or Gabriel Gonzaga,  neither one of those guys have any scintillating standup either.



I think we'll see two really big hulking dudes throwing big slow sloppy punches at each other until one guy rocks the other then they'll hold each other in the clinch for a long ass time.



But I hope for a good finish.  Neither guy has any real submission skills, so that's pretty much out the window.



I think Carwin takes it.

Carwin and Lesnar are not the top two HWs in the world. So, no, to the UFC HW supremacy thought.
I'd like to see Carwin win just to burst Dana's bubble.

UFC events seemed to get even more watered-down sometime in the past two years.  I haven't actually watched any of the events live in around a year because of it.
A lot of fights have been canceled or altered due to fighter injuries/surgery/illness more than usual too.

I also predict Carwin to win via an early T/KO although I'd like to see Lesnar take him down immediately.  I'd like to think Lesnar is the superior wrestler and has a considerable size advantage.

In my opinion, and in the opinion of many other long time fans, the UFC's had watered down cards as pretty much a way to increase revenue by spreading marquee fights across several pay per views.



Nowadays you'll only get like 1 or 2 top flight matchups per card.



Compare that to say...Pride Final Conflict 2003-2006, or even some of the old loaded UFC cards like UFC 49, UFC 51,...

I still dont take Lesnar's standup very seriously.



Has he really beaten anyone spectacular yet?  No.

Holy shit yes!  Pride events used to be non-stop noteworthy fights with star fighters or fighters who would later become champions.

UFC needs tourneys.  :mad2:

no b/c he hasnt been fighting that long i see him overpowering carwin even though carwin is just as strong i think lesnar has the edge on quickness on his feet. carwin is training with light weights and middle weights to get use to lesnars quickness
