Mir vs Carwin, Nipples beating up a pip

I really dont know how or why Dan Hardy got a title shot ahead of the massive pool of possible contenders at 170 (ahem, Anthony Johnson), but I guess it was to appease the British fans.


Either way, GSP is one of the most complete guys out there, and Hardy is going to feel the wrath of a Canadian denid of his poutine.




The real interesting match on here is Mir vs Carwin. 

I dont think Mir has a significant advantage on the ground, as he really isn't that good off his back unless he's fighting someone who sucks.


As we've seen many times, Mir begins to wilt once the ground n pound picks up.  I think this is what probably will happen in this fight but who knows.


Shane Carwin is a freak of nature, and he hits hard as hell.  It'll be interesting to see how the standup battle goes between these two, as Mir probably has the better technique but definitely not as much power.


Shane's problem is that he's still slow and sloppy, and his defense is lacking.  But I'll still pick Carwin to win this fight, as I feel like he's got enough stylistic advantages over Mir.

I'm really looking forward to this fight. Best HW match up in a while. It's hard to decide who has the edge.

Will Mir be afraid of Carwins wrestling? Or will Carwin be afraid of Mir's Jujitsu (don't think you gave mir enough credit). Because of this I think the entire fight will be on the feet. Yes, Mir has the better stand up but his weakness has always been 1 hard punch to the face. Which is Carwins specialty. Sloppy, wild punches but when they connect they do damage.

Also, don't forget Mir has been putting on weight and probably trying to figure out a way to negate lesnars wrestling. Maybe it'll help him in the Carwin fight if wrestling comes into play. Or it could be an indication he's looking past Carwin which isn't a smart move.

Lots of ifs in this fight.

Mir heel hook Rnd 2. But not before he gets caught with one of Carwins hard rights.

Well I'm gona give dan hardy a bit of credit he has hade and impressive start but agree that he sould not be in the title picture yet and Carwin i belive will knockout frank mir. Mir has said it himself he is obssed with fighting brock lensar and it will get him caught if he is not careful

Carwin fights really awkardly and kind of sluggish. I think Mir's going to take him to the ground and grind out a win. Then again, all Carwin needs to land is one punch...

I would have liked to see a title eliminator match between Hardy and Johnson. But like OP said Dana's got a boner for the Brits. Although Johnson did just loose one to Kos, who's also about due for another shot.

Dan Hardy's one of the few guys in the division who hasn't:  (a)lost recently (b)recently fought GSP.


Mir/Carwin is not a fight to bet on. Mir is huge now. Carwin has been on his back for like 10 seconds. Carwin got rocked and then mounted by Gonzaga and stood the fuck up and knocked Gonzaga out. He has MASSIVE power in his hands, but he hasn't fought in a hot minute while waiting for Lesnar.  Mir has only lost to Lesnar since the Vera fight.

Mir is dumb and fairly heartless so I'll take Carwin.

I'm going to pick Mir because I don't like people named Shane.  Obviously Mir will win because of this hatred I have for that name, so don't trouble yourselves over this one.

Fixing to watch Nate Diaz here.  He always manages to win every fucking time I think he's beat so I'm not betting against him.  I'm not betting for him though either.  But it's not because of his name.  My reasons are personal on this one.

How the fuck does Diaz do it.  His punches always look so slow and looping.  They don't even look that hard, but fuck if he doesn't always win.

Looks like I'll be downloading the torrent tomorrow morning, and watching in the afternoon.
