Belfort vs Anderson announced

Very very good matchup.



Vitor, is really "back" so to speak.  I mean he's definitely improved some serious strides since his Pride days. 


His standup has always been damn good, but its pretty much always been a matter of his heart in a fight.  Once things stop going his way he really turns into a way too passive fighter.  See: fights with Hendo, Overeem, second rematch with Couture.




It's just going to be interesting either way, seeing someone actually challenge Silva in the standup.

Would have liked to see Belfort get 1 more fight before going for the title.
But it's no big deal. They're (silva, hendo. belfort, marquart) all gonna have to fight each other eventually.

I like Belforts chances in this fight. I hope he gets the KO

This fight is interesting, as Vitor is sooo fucking fierce in his standup, and his weakness was always against good wrestlers, something Anderson isn't really super well known for. They probably both have similar jiu-jitsu skill levels. I still see Anderson winning though. His only weakness is that he gets taken down, but he's so lanky that his guard is a nightmare to deal with anyways.

Vitor Belfort's really been loving staying in the stand-up lately, which I think is going to allow Anderson Silva to demolish him.  I can't remember the last fight ANYONE gave Silva problems in the stand up.

I still can't believe Rich Franklin lost to Belfort though...

what about carwin/lesnar.  lesnar finally fights someone his own size.  They're both former ncaa superstars, and if they're wrestling cancels each other out, and it comes to standup, I think carwin will dominate

HELLO?!? Hendo was tearing him up the first round all stand up..If Vetor can do what Hendo did and not get fucking choked out, I give the fight to Vitor.

And winner of that fight fights winner of the Henderson-Marquardt fight, which should be a good one. I give that to Hendo, as he CANNOT be KOed..ever..its impossible

As for Carwin/Lesnar, I think I'm gonan give it to Carwin..if Carwin doesn't get nervous about figthing for the title, he should run train on Lesnar, cuz he has standup and good ground game

Take that back..Just read that Hendo doesn't even want to fight Marqaudt..he said the fight doesn't interest him, and noone in the Middlewieght division is an interest..He said give him Silva or give him Light Heavy,

I really don't like Lesnar and would love to see him get knocked out.

And this Carwin guy is pretty huge.

But I thought Lesnar would lose his last fight too, so...

To be honest, I've come to the conclusion that any time Anderson Silva "gets hurt," he's merely playing the mental martial arts game with the other fighter.  Think about it, every time Silva gets into a compromising position, as in taken down, he barely takes any damage, if at all.  When Travis Lutter mounted him, it looked like it could have been the end for Silva, but Silva always seems to have some ace of spades to play.

I mean, the guy hasn't hasn't REALLY lost a fight in five years, and his last loss was a match he came into with a broken foot (Ryo Chonan).

When it comes down to it, the thing that sets Silva apart from other MMA fighters is the fact that Silva embodies the martial arts spirit.  All the other fighters seem to learn the MMA pedigree and how to be tough-ground game and striking and shit, but they don't really retain the mental discipline of fighters like Anderson Silva and Lyoto Machida.

And then there's GSP who is just an unbelievable athlete....
