Yeah, I'm pretty sure that was last year.

Nutt was sacked last year, and half of the committee quit this year because they felt their arguments weren't being listened to...



Government sets up independant committee for investigating drugs.

Committee comes back a year later saying "hang on, they're not that bad".

Goverment fires committee.

Correction, that was a few days BEFORE he was sacked. This was after an interview with Nutt, in which he said MDMA is as dangerous as horse riding.

"It's perfectly acceptable for Nutt to have these discussions in the cosseted world of academia but it is totally irresponsible for him to pontificate in public and in his position as Drug Tsar. He must be sacked immediately."

There was an internet poll to get him reinstated which got quite a few votes but was obviously ignored.

Not sure why anyone is surprised by this, if you speak the inconvenient truth then the government will ruin you.

I doubt he'd take the position back.

The lib dems said before the election that they'd try and make the ACMD "properly independent". And that they would reclassify drugs based on harm, with that information coming from scientific evidence.

Surely something else that'll be sidelined now they're sleeping with the tories.

Exactly... We really can't expect much progress from this new government. I think, as scary as it sounds, we have to look to America to make some progress on this issue. They're certainly leading the way as far as legalising weed is concerned.
