is there any way a dog could sniff out pills?

is it safe to send some benzos through mail? i know dogs can sniff out e so i dunno are they trained out to smell any other meds? i know this is highly unlikley i just wanna make sure. thnx

Dogs can smell most illegal drugs if trained to do so. Of course this depends on the drug. Pure LSD for expample is a colorless, odorless, tasteless crystal. If the chemical is not odorless the trainers would have no problem training them for the task.

Dogs can be trained to smell just about anything,but benzos are legal to possess with a prescription-people probably get them sent in the mail all the time.I would think that it would be extremely unlikely for a drug dog to find benzos in the mail.

true true, if a scent is there, a dog can smell it. Now what has a scent and what doesnt? oh well better play it safe then sorry.

I hear that "Colorless, Odorless, Tasteless" line so much but you have to wonder if it is actually true. Didn't Hoffman (or was it someone else) who consumed a massive dose of liquid lsd say that it had a bitter taste? There are also chemicals used by Sigma which help train drug dogs to detect LSD. Here is an excerpt from an article of this url. Here

an easy way to hide scent is to get a large wax candle, hallow it out in the middle enough for stashing whatever you want inside then reseal it. Its a little tough to do but with a little practice you can hide whatever you want from whoever you want in a candle without them noticing. Nice for letting things sit out in the open without getting noticed... or for other needs, whatever they may be....

oh ok , thats kinda what i figured but i wasnt quite sure, ive seen hollowed out candles that you can hide stuff in b4 in like catalogs and such, the look like they would fool some people!

If they're trained to do it probably. Dogs can smell anything that has any scent whatsoever.  they can smell large amounts of cash (like in a brief case leaving a plane) and can even distinguish between denominations.  Yes, they can SMELL the difference between 5's and 100's.  I saw a thing on the discovery channel where they were teaching dogs to smell people to detect certain types of cancer (they make your cells produce some chemicals slightly differently thereby altering your oder).  If you took all the sensory tissue in the average personns nose (its all folded up in there) it would be less than one square meter whereas an average dog has about seven.  much more in breeds that they use to sniff stuff out like labs, hounds and goldens.  sorry for the rambling.  i work with dogs and have picked up much worthless info.  plus I'm on amphetamines which causes me to ramble.  which is harder when typing than when speaking.  see? I'm still goin... :tongue:
