i watched "State of Play" last night. with Russell Crowe, Ben Affleck, Rachel McAdams, Jason Bateman and Jeff Daniels. I thought it was rather good.
yy
its about a group of investigative reporters working to uncover a multi layered political/corporate/sex scandal involving a state representative in DC.

An average man is kidnapped and imprisoned in a shabby cell for 15 years without explanation. He then is released, equipped with money, a cellphone and expensive clothes. As he strives to explain his imprisonment and get his revenge, he soon finds out that not only his kidnapper has still plans for him, but that those plans will serve as the even worse finale to 15 years of imprisonment.

if you want a documentary, manda bala and proteus are two of the most impressive i've ever seen.

manda bala
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0912590/

proteus
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0391407/

fair warning, manda bala is a bit hard to watch at points (animal and human brutality) and a few of my friends found proteus to be a little stuffy. i thought they were both staggering works of art.

persepolis is a must see imo.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0808417/

and, if you haven't seen the disinformation series, do yourself a favor and just buy the dvd. hilarious, cool, utter genius. the mind of alan moore is another one that's worth picking up off disinfo's site. they may or may not be easy to find for download.

for some reason i've been wanting to get blazed and watch some old eastwood flicks. thunderbolt & lightfoot and high plains drifter are both at the top of my list. brilliant if you haven't seen them.
