The coming technological singularity
    #12671248 -

Quote:
Although technological progress has been accelerating, it has been limited by the basic intelligence of the human brain, which has not changed significantly for millennia.[1] However with the increasing power of computers and other technologies, it might eventually be possible to build a machine that is more intelligent than humanity.

I, for one, welcome our new technological overlords.

We are so far removed from that level of computing right now that it's just fantasy to think about it.

Edit: Also, about the human brain not changing for a millenium -  I'm not sure if it's physically changed or not, but think about how much more we know now than we did in the year 1000.  And I'm sure our brains have the capacity to increase that knowledge a lot more before we "max it out."

bullshit.. wed have to figure out artificial intelligence before a machine has ANY intelligence. thats a long long way off (assuming we ever do it).

also, you would probably like Colossus: The Forbin Project.

Only after the last tree's cut
And the last river poisoned
Only after the last fish is caught
Will you find that money cannot be eaten
