New York Super Bowl
    #12626475 -

Im so sick of hearing the whining and crying about people not having a Super Bowl in New York.

If it's not the best conditions, then it shouldn't be played there.

I know they just got rewarded the 2014 bid, but weather has played a role in many big games.

My problem is simply that shitty weather will always manipulate the strengths and weaknesses of teams.

It's always been the case.  Teams using a West Coast offense will probably struggle significantly more than a team playing marty ball.

Not just this but the game itself slows down in bad weather.

Certain players play better or worse in bad weather, speed players have a tremendous disadvantage in bad weather.

I dont give a fuck about how great people in New York think their city is.  You can build the city as tall as you want, but it's not going to change the shitty weather

What are the "best conditions"?? Why the fuck should 16 games in a season be played, plus playoffs be played, in possible snow and rain and shitty sleety conditions, but not the Superbowl?

Fuck this warm weather Superbowl bullshit. It's about time they went north of the Mason Dixon and made these fuckers work a little for their loot.

Not to mention the game will be played in New Jersey.

The owners are really fucking up their game with all these new inconsistencies.  Things were a lot better when things at least had some sort of logic behind them.  In this case, you have a very long-standing argument of the league championship being played on neutral ground where weather is not a factor.  Now, they've taken the weather element and wiped their ass with it.  I think what it will come down to now is whoever can get the most retardedly expensive stadium subsidized will win the Super Bowl bid.

BTW as much as I feel that, as a New York City resident I am not looking forward to this at all, it's going to be so shitty for me and for public transportation. Hopefully I can find someone to sublet my apartment to who is coming into town for the Superbowl, and rent it to em for big bucks.

Considering that the grand majority of regular season games throughout the NFL are either indoors or in decent weather conditions, means alot of teams in general built their credentials off decent weather.

Bad weather gives advantage to bad weather teams.  But it's not like good weather gives advantage to good weather teams,  because good weather favors any competitive atmosphere.

All of the main attractions in New York are man-made.  But when it comes to natural geographic climate, it's one of the shittiest places to be in the country.

The simple fact that you're from this area, yet you're making a distinction between Jersey and New York,

come on man....you know jersey is practically just another borough

This is, of course, bullshit.

Firstly, all other playoff games are played on the homefield of one of the participants regardless of weather.  Always playing the Super Bowl in a dome or warm weather is actually the inconsistency since no other game is treated that way.

Secondly, many teams play in areas of the country where inclement weather is expected for a certain part of the season.  These teams are constructed with that in mind.  When the Super Bowl is always played in conditions that are favorable to teams bult on other criteria that is an unfair advantage to warm weather or dome teams.  Fuck them.  They've had that for too long.

Thirdly, NJ isn't exactly Green Bay or Minneapolis.  It doesn't snow that much and it rarely gets that cold.

To address OMR's concern, NY is probably better able to absorb that kind of crowd than most places.  I doubt it will add much to public transit.  The hotels will be filled, restaurants will be kicking, hookers will be flush.  You can stand it for a week or two.  It'll be cool.

Consistency WITHIN the sport, silly.

No, it isn't consistent within the sport when only one game out if hundreds is treated differently.

Their teams are constructed to survive rough weather games.  Suddenly in the Super Bowl that is no longer relevant.  But no dome team or warm weather team ever has to adjust to a change in the rules for one particular game.  How is that equitable?
