and their D is capable of being just as good, I don't see why not that it could be a colts blow out, maybe not, but I'd be shocked to see them choke this game. After all they really deserve to be there, 'wink wink'
If the colts show up with the same running game and defensive intensity they've shown so far in the playoffs then the bears will be sorely challenged. However the bears are just as hungry as the colts and their defense especially is back on the prowl after a weak 2nd half of the season. The bears don't just jump at the carrier and hope to knock them down like the colts (and most other teams) do. They wrap them up and bring them down UFC style. I expect Manning to get hassled a lot and the colts receivers are going to be limping by halftime.
I think the Superbowl will be a game of attrition. The Bears D will wear down the Colts and as long as Grossman sticks to his conservative, low-error game then the Bears will take it.
On a personal note I like teams almost equally 55/45 in favor of the bears, since that's the team I grew up on in Illinois. So I can't really lose the SB as long as both teams play a good, entertaining game. A blowout will suck.

Bum rush Manning.....create turnovers and general chaos as the Bears have ALL season.

capliberty should be banned from the sports forum. on account of making the worst analysis ever, you should apply to CBS for an announcer job!
Joseph Addai and Rhodes doesnt compare to Jones and Benson.. the Colts o-line is much better than or atleast slightly better than the bears line.. Diem, Saturday, Glenn... they have a nice vetern line.. thats why Addai and Rhodes run soo well.. not to mention that everyone who plays the Colts knows they have to play pass 70% of the time..

just thought I would shed some light for you.

I like Addai more than Jones and Benson even though I think they are better running backs at this point. However, give Addai another year or two and these guys wont compare. I think the only shot the bears have at winning is to shut manning down early. When he loses confidence he loses it in his team and he wont throw the ball to people. He is a terrible quarterback in the sense he doesnt have the bounce back that a John Elway does. Elway could miss 5 passes in a row and still come back to blow the team out of the water. Manning will throw to a guy 2 or 3 times if he messes the throw up or the pass is dropped you may as well forget that reciever is on the field.
The bears on the other hand will be easy to beat because their offense is inconsistent. I remember watching 2 or 3 of their games where their D put up 14-21 points. A very good D but without a decent offense showing up against the Colts, 14-21 points wont be enough to win the game. Manning is a much more accurate and calm quarterback and can throw it to the right spot if the pressure isnt on him.
Rex needs to be injured and Brian needs to be put in. He is a way better quarter back than Grossman.

What are you talking about Rex is one the main reason why their still in it, there is no more QB controversy
Also didn't you see the major come back in the last game, that Manning orchestrated, he came back down 21-3, he also done it in the regular season, and also the comment about him not passing to receiver who drops balls is a little off too, I've seen him go back and test those receivers, also QBs are known to work the hot hand, and sometimes go away from the unhot hand. Which I see is just being smart, its like basketball, feed the hot hand.
Also Rex has an ability to make great plays, and with a good running attack and field position can put up good scores. I think the key is winning the field position battle, if Indy can make them use the whole field more often than not, they got this one, if they start doing like they did in the last game, It could get quite interesting.
Not saying I'm taking the middle road here, like some of these bizatches

nice and boring.
I am hoping for a competitive game that is fun to watch. Also I will probably have an 8 pk and don't want to run out of game before I run out of beer.
I am rooting for the Bears and it seems everyone is counting them out. They are a resourceful team and I feel they can find a way to win. They will need to win the turnover battle to make it easier on their offence. Seeing how they shut down my Saints I can easily see them doing the same to Peyton. If they can keep it close they have a chance.

yeah but idk how the colts will stop benson and jones... i think that defense will get tired if they spend too much time on the field
as long as the colts can protect the ball and limit themselves to 1-2 turnovers, i think they'll win.

Honestly if the bears can play better pass coverage than the patriots I will be amazed. I thought the patriots played some damn good pass coverage.
I saw something on espn the other day that compared all the past games where a team has overcome their arch rival team and won the championship. The momentum and confidence the colts gained by jumping their umltimate hurdle is going to go a long way. This is the day Peyton has been wating for. I have confidence.

NE's problem is that they ran the same pass coverage all game.. so peyton caught on and just became exploiting it.
the bears need to keep changing up their packages and dialing up different blitz schemes.

in a battle of 2 of my most hated teams in the league, i will suffer through maybe the fist half of the game. enough to watch the colts gain a 20 point lead. after this i'll turn the tv off and walk away, probably go light a j, then tune into espn later to hear about manning blowing the game and how he'll never recover.
in truth, i hope they both loose.

One, New Englands problem wasnt the pass coverage, it was the defenders. If you actually watched the game, you'd know that they were just plugging random people into positions like CB and SS. These were not the regular starters. These were schmucks from the special teams squad. The patriots were horribly beat up coming into that game, and it only got worse.
And the Bears dont really blitz heavily. And I doubt they will against Peyton. If they blitz him, and they dont get to him, he will pick them apart with ease. I hope they dont do that.

If the Bears can get pressure on Manning using only 4 rushers they should be in good shape. But having said that I don't know if they actually can do that.

No doubt about it, it will be a good game.
But can the Bears play 60 minutes consistantly without rex throwing a pick to the fast colts defense. I don't think so.
