PS3 and DLP projector help

So i have this projector ipaq mp3800 projector

with and HDMI to DVI adapter the philips one im pretty sure its dual link it has all the pins (24)

anyway i cant get the projector to read the input signal from the ps3, i tried holding the power button on the ps3 to reset the input signal but still nothing, should this set up work, am i doing something wrong?

you held the ps3 button down for the 3 beeps right? not just 1 or 2?
