anyone know about projectors?

Im lookin into a good projector to use for all kindsa stuff but most of all to bring to parties and gatherings, shows, festies, etc and rockin out visuals along with bumpin some tunes.  ive seen alot all around but never remembered what kinds i was recomended because i know some of them have shitty bulbs that go out and they cost like mad loot to replace.  so yea, just wonderin if anyone can shoot me some good recomendations if u know of.  and im not sure if all of them do, but i think i  heard some of them dont do well on like sheets and such and that some of them do?  so yea, ill be using this thing to just throw up against walls or sheets hangin or whatever ya know.  just wonderin if thats a factor.  any info greatly appreciated

You need to check the specs on them for what you need..........each one will be different,the lumens affect how dark the room needs to be to see it clearly....some of the other specs are just like a monitor,resolution,contrast ration etc.

    They key is defining the use you have for it ,then finding one that matches that use correctly.

    Size you will use ,throw distance,lumen needs etc.

    Make a list of what you will be doing then eject possible choices based on that untill you come to one that will fit your needs.
          Unless you plan on using it mostly in your house in a dim lit room ,this will not be a budgett purchase.
  Read alot of reviews on the ones you narrow it down to ,sometimes reading the reviews might help before looking for a actuall unit....:shrug:

Optoma HD-65 - You can get it refurbished for $550 bucks CAD, and it looks fucking phenomenal.  I have one in my living room, 105" screen, 1080p, looks bomb diggity.

damn that seems like a lot of money.  is it really worth it?  i just can't imagine the picture being that great.

Lol dude.  Picture is at least as good as 90% of TVs out there.  People have a weird misconception about they - this isn't 1995, technology has come a long way.

For a TV half that size you would pay $1300+ to start.  They are incredibly cheap by comparison.

DLP's and LCD's are pretty good. 2000-2500 Lumens would be bright enough and fairly cheap. But every projector I've ever heard of uses a bulb, and they only last 2k-5k hours and the bulb costs about as much as the projector.

I have two of these at the moment-

They're fairly cheap and get at the maximum 3000 hours.

projectors are sweet, but expect to drop some coin. My friend and I used to help with visuals for a monthly party we did. The projector he had was around $2000.
