The stories in the bible were told by many different people. It is a log of how they percieved him. I believe he was a real person. But noone knows if he was the son of "god"
He could just be a side effect of nature like everyone else only perceived as the son of god Because people were led to believe that by their own conciosness beacause people try to comprehend the uncomprehendable.

Personally, I don't know why I'd even address a demon, other than to exorcize it in Jesus' Name, and banish it to the place whence it came. But unfortunately, truly demonic people are not so easily banished. If you want a brilliant take on the New Testament - one that supports both reason and faith - then read "Liberating the Gospels: Reading the Bible With Jewish Eyes" by [former] Archbishop John Shelby Spong. Lay hold of Truth, and Life will restore your silicon based 'grasp' of things to warm, carbon based, organic humanity.

I've been a follower of Jesus of since 1975, and I can assure you that I have not become psychotic, or a liar, and my spiritual nature matured beyond my chronological age after having recognized Him as my Master. Prayer infinitely surpasses magick, and the quality of my life has become wonderful. In fact, one of the connections behind my having become a licensed clinical counselor is through the influence of the Holy Spirit, also called "Wonderful Counselor." If any Wisdom comes through me at all, it originates in God. Peace.

everyone should read _the passover plot_ for an interesting, informative, and quite plausible view of what being "messiah" meant to the carpenter/rabbi from galilee...
(and the sequel _the jesus party_ for what his followers did with the story...)

hiya, markos... i picked up spong's book _rescuing the bible from fundamentalism _ (at your suggestion) at a book sale, and recommend it as well...
~
as for the "actual" jesus... my, my, after 2000 years, opinions are of neccessity all over the map...
mystic, messiah, magician, misanthrope, metaphor, mental case, many other labels...

i doubt that even within the episcopalian church :wink: one can become a bishop and be an atheist at the same time...
it may be quite possible to become a bishop without being a biblical literalist, however...

Jesus did many things at many times in history. Jesus is many people, the bible is a mix/twist of all of the jesus's tales. The bible is hard to disipher, and there's some bullshit in the bible too.

Ya know, this has probably been talked about before.  But if Satan is so devilishly clever (and hates God), why doesn't he just switch on the NO VACANCY sign to hell and hang a sign that says "Go to heaven."
