My Neighbor gets beat down by cops-dash cam footage

My neighbor beat up some guy and he came back pissed, cut him with a knife. He called for an ambulance and the police came and was told the victim was the one who stabbed her boyfriend. Well needless to say, a brother that "has a weapon" in Iowa is for sure to get a beatdown. Watch and see.



He needs help finding a lawyer to take his case. Only has till June 3 to file charges or the statute of limitations will run out. Pleease, if you can send or show as many people as possible it would really help his cause. I don't like the way the police around here can squash anything they want and no one ever hears about it. Please, get the word out. Burlington Iowa Police beat a man who had been stabbed and allowed a women to kick him while they were holding him down/handcuffing him.

All I know about the law, is its all bullshit. You can try to do something but the system just seems fucked to me. good luck though.

Well he didn't comply, I know when cops tell me to put my face in the concrete after a good stabbing I always do.

I did but they are dragging there feet because this guy has a sketchy record. My thought is that it shouldn't matter about prior/future actions, the situation itself (beating him while he tried to explain) is totally unjustified.

He needs someone that will do pro-bono(sp?) for criminal charges and for a cut of the settlement for civil suit.

Lol why would any lawyer do pro-bono work for some guy with a sketchy record?  They could be somewhere else making money.  Sucks, but that's the way it is.  Try the civil suit first, get money, then criminal suit after :shrug:

First of all who stabbed who?? its a little hard to understand the way you worded it,  i'm going to assume your friend beat up some guy,  and the guy came back at him later with a knife and cut your friend.

Anyways, why does everyone ignore the fact that the OP's friend is a violent criminal?  he assaulted someone get it?  assault is against the law,  so when the cops come to arrest him and have to use force,  big surprise?

IMO if you don't want cop to fuck with you,  don't go beat someone up.  i thought that was a no brainer...

you dont explain or reason with cops until they feel they have control
of the situation, your neighbor was foolish, he should certainly have
know it's compliance first, explanation later

I wish him luck but I can already tell you there's no freebees in
criminal cases  other than a public defender and for contingent
representation they'll see the same thing throughout, the sketchy
record, the video certainly wont help him in the slightest. had he
complied with the orders from the cops, he'd have a solid case
