For sure. They just got mediocre after that because they started experimenting with their sound a little more and changed their formula to suit a more radio-friendly audience.

One could say they lost their soul and inspiration and after making so much damn money but ah, that's life for ya. At least they got some good albums out before they ran out of material unlike most bands.

i saw them live a couple months ago and i have to say it was awesome. although it would have been more awesome like 20 years ago.

Ya it wasn't as bad as most people made it out to be. The production wasn't that great but then again Justice has no bass besides the guitar production. Hard for me to listen to all the way through though.

All Nightmare Long is a great song.

I dont think the last album lived up to the reviews it got, at least the reviews I read. I still enjoy Metallica though, good band. :thumbup:

I agree. It was better than St. Anger and Load for sure! Its a shame really that most bands tend to get worse as time goes on. I was having this discussion yesterday about RHCP. I feel that only a few bands like Pantera and Incubus stayed good throughout their career.

Metallica sucks because they play the same type and style of music, and that's all they play, they've never mixed it up, it's always been the same style with minor adaptations.  After 30 years or so of playing the same shit, it gets old, it gets crusty, and it sucks dick.

Metallica lost their spark almost 20 years ago.


Granted I still listen to them, so they aren't Terrible, but that's the quick and dirty story of what happened.

No, that's just when everyone realized they were going bad.  When theyn stopped liking them as fans, it let them hear their music without the "OMG it's metallica!" thing swimmin' around in their heads, instead it was "Oh, wow this band needs some work..."

Last Album wasn't bad and their performances seem to have gotten better with Trujillo.  Still only listen to the Cliff albums regularly, they had a really really shitty streak.

Because they're old and they play metal.

Been a fan of metal since my youth and, I tell ya, this is the curse of the genre.

Plus they were the least talented band of the thrash movement.
They made it big through chance, and (as stated) they ran out of
Mustaine material (who sucks assholes too now).
