would Ipods and MP3's become as popular as they have if record companies had lowered CD Prices? After napster, everyone realized that paying 10-25$ for a CD was a huge rip off. If The price had come down to 5$, i think CD's would still be en vouge today.
Silly greedy record producers priced themselves out of the market.
CD's are hard to find in stores now. They usually only stock the classics. There used to be a magic feeling when you took it home and played it on your cd player for the first time.

I remember the first napster, that was a huge deal to me when it first came out. I was the first kid on the block to have a CD burner too, I was selling burned CD's for $5 each back then, haha.
I still buy vinyl and those still have a magic feeling imo. CD's are just too tiny and plasticish to have any sort of magic I think.

You are very much correct. The prices of CD's is mainly responsible for MP3 downloading via Napster, Kazaa, etc.
Even with current pay services, like iTunes and Rhapsody, CD's are going to be fazed out. That's kind of sad when you realize that we won't be getting the liner notes anymore.

it is sad that cover art will dissapear. looking at an album that has been released as a complete piece will also end.
man i spent soooo much money on cds when i was a kid. i got most of them at pawn shops and used record places though. that was a real thrill! finding what your looking for in the used section.
and i bought burned cds off people who had burners for 5 dollars back in the day. you knew CD's were losing their status when people spent on night downloading songs to make the complete album on a 56K dial up modem at 3kbps. lol 15kbps was like... whoa!!!

idk, i have a zune, and i have photos of most of the art from albums i've accumulated. even a lot of albums that were solely released as mp3s (idm/electro stuff) have art bundled with them. =]

Technology progresses. Things change. Its the natural order of man.
...I remember being so excited to go home and pop in a new 'Johnny Cash' 8-track I had just bought!

Yep Times just change the same way no one wanted to carry records/ tapes around, now no one wants to carry CD's around. Everything is about how small and how much information can be stored on the smallest possible device.
