Anyone else here get screwed by Napster?

I actually used to like the new napster. 9.95 a month wasn't too bad even though they didn't have any Zeppling or Radiohead.

If you call to cancel they'll even offer you a free month (over and over every month).

I got offered a free month instead of just cancelling so I took it. I then cancelled this month.

I got charged 9.95 last month anyways and 9.95 AFTER I cancelled...

The shitty thing is... you have to REINSTALL napster just to get your membership ID number or to contact customer support.. and even then they won't give you a phone number to call unless you're a paying customer again.

For those of you thinking about using Napster.. don't.

I know I know I'm going to get heckled for this because I'm actually *gasp*.. paying for music. I normally just use Soulseek to download any music I want.. but (a) you have to wait, (b) half the time you don't even get a full album (c) a lot of the time music is mislabbled or cut off or crappy quality.

Plus I use a lot of different computers throughout the day and it's kind of nice to have a central place that stores all your playlists and preferences.... and my fiance isn't technically competent so it's nice for her.

I'd use bit torrent but I'm not enough of a geek to keep up with all the web sites.... tiz why I use soulseek.

limewire has blown chunks since its birth and continues to do so. No idea what soulseek is.

You don't need to be a genius to use torrents. I thought they were stupid and my technique of getting music over DC++ and IRC were way better than torrents but I was wrong. I'm so glad I swallowed my pride and came to torrents.

but if you're afraid then try IRC, go on Undernet and join mp3 channels.... #mp3_collective .... just search for all channels with the name mp3. But torrents are the way to go.

thats happened to me before with free trials. sometimes id get billed anyway. but as for downloading i use free programs like pretty much everyone else

If you're going to use torrents, make sure to download Peer Guardian. It's a program that compiles lists of IP addresses held by recording industries, government agencies, etc. It blocks anything from its list from having access to your computer. A must have for torrent users, especially since the recording industries are putting out fake torrents to see who downloads them.

ahhh... dude i wish i knew about that before. i got this letter in the mail not too long ago saying i could be sued cus i downloaded this one movie that was like that. hopefully i wont actually get sued cus thats fucked up. but its good to know i can use that for the future. thanks man.

I mean I get all my shit from private trackers so maybe, just maybe I'm safe from that but eh.

yeah man, i was freaking out when i get that letter, but hopefully it was just a threat. its been a few months or so and no action has been taken so im optimistically thinking its not going to happen. but at least for the future ill be protected from shit like that...

that is if i can get that link to work.. the download said something about it not working for my type of windows xp even though i dld that specific link... so i dunno man.. ill try it again tomorrow though.
