One of my favs, actually have that one on my fb quotes.  I interpreted that more accept that there are always grey areas and keep an open mind, because there is an exception to every rule, and if you buy novelty theory, things are constantly changing so nothing is set in stone.

i think it's not necessarily "there is an exception to every rule," it's more "never fall prey to ideology"

well, i tried to listen to a couple of the posted videos and couldn't really get into it, but i remember he used to get into these really powerful oratories. i haven't really listened to one in a few years though

i just think hes blown up, he wasnt as great as people make him out to be, he was a driving force in psychedelics and i respectr that, but some of his stuff is too out there for me.

I recall one of his "personal favorite" theories on Crop Circles was that Japanese Marketers are preforming a study on the western reaction  to unexplainable events. and that he noticed that in every one of these crop circle sightings, there are at least a couple of japanese people. so what he hypothesized, is that they come out late at night and use their corn stalk-slicing ninja techniques to create these formations in the crops, and then gain profit by marketing off the event and using the enthusiasts to gain profit

i agree he is overinflated when you compare with all of the fascinating and applicable contributions others have made. but usually they don't make very entertaining speeches. terrence mckenna is more of a cult of personality than someone to learn from. unless you are really creative in turning weird statements into constructive acts.
