which is why whitman wont actually declare it null and void..but rather find some way to finagle her way around it.. so that you still cant get marijuana even thought its technically legal...restricting it to industrial hemp is one way.. or else she could simply refuse to manufacture the tax stamps and then prosecute ppl for not buying the stamps...and theres prolly other ways she could go about too...

furthermore..a repug majority in congress (which would include campbell and mark kirk in IL (a hard-line drug warrior)) will likely pressure o'bumble to ramp up federal enforcement against state laws that permit some form of marijuana use...

Personally I believe this is the best opportunity we have to actually make it legal. MJ has been gaining steady support and turning over many people. However I cannot but foresee the Feds panties bunching up. Which will undoubtedly bring about the epic United States vs State of California in the supreme court where, once again, it will be debated State Rights. Given those reps in the S.C what do you think that will entail?

i kinda doubt this bill will matter, even if it does pass, i heard there's a major bitch in the lineup after the terminator leaves office, so she'll just fuck everything up

Although, I think that that MJ will be legal within 3-5 years somewhere in the US, I don't think it will pass this time around (but I'm hoping I'm wrong)

I'm more interested in what the margin will be, and also what happens in Oregon/Washington if their initiatives are on the ballot.

Overall there is no doubt that public opinion is definitely changing, and that is a positive sign.

I just think that there are too many details to iron out (supply, number of plants, distribution, ect) 

I would almost prefer if the govn't didn't do anything but collect taxes.  I would envision , I would imagine that they put a limit on dispensaries and each year they would have to obtain a license that is crazy expensive, as well as pay crazy high taxes.  Each seller would then have to contract out for their supply (again highly taxed).  I would like to see this sector be kept in the emerald triangle, with the exception that inspections are preformed by the state and EPA.

people could still grow their own, perhaps a license at 100$ a plant (just a number), there would have to also be some way to establish a "drugged driving" test that is reliable with penalties severe. 

I'm sure that this is just the tip of things, but I think it has to be a case of give and take to make non-smokers and those against it to think it is worthwhile.

Unfortunately due to current circumstances it is up to the cannabis community to prove that it SHOULD be legal, not that it SHOULDN'T be illegal.  That is where the money, perhaps job creation, and police resources come in.

I don't live in cali, so i don't know what the general feel is, but I'm guessing that there are three camps:  strongly for, strongly against, and don't care.

The strongly against are set in their ways, so perhaps it is the "don't care" crowd that needs to be won over.
