Why birth them if they were not done. Not only should they be 100% colonized after that a they should consolidate for another week before birthing. You also used pint jars, to be honest I would not expect much from them

what u mean consolidate for another week before birthing shea?
leave em in the jar before dunking another week?
or after u dunk put em back in the jar for a week?

could u please specify shea so i understand?

Leave them in the jars for another week, then birth and dunk.

yep let them colonize till all the substrate visible on the faces of the jar is white, then that extra week gives the mycelium a chance to colonize whatever isnt visible to the eye.

UPDATE:

Hah, well ive been picking about 2 mushrooms a day off the cakes as they mature for the past 3 days, and i must say, these cakes had a hidden force buried inside of them, or maybe i was just underestimating them. However, i doubt there will be much of a second flush.

I picked the second one from the left yesterday, and the other 5 this morning.

Update:

Woke up this morning, unloaded my dehydrator, and the total so far weighs out to around 27g's

The bag weighs 2.1 grams its self and full of dried mushies it weighed 29g's after yesterdays pick got done drying.

picture from this morning before picking

Went ahead and picked the ones that were ready this morning, which are currently in the dehydrator.

Some pictures of the gnarliest cakes you will ever see. Took these after i picked this morning.

Not bad for some struggling pints..

Did you leave some of the stems or previous flushes / fruits on the cake? I think he is wondering what that black gunk is on the top of your cake?

No i do not leave stems to rot on my cake. That growth on the top was growing when the hyphae was forming. Its either abnormally large hyphae or some other growth i don't have knowledge of.
