it's all over spain and portugal right now.  this shit is really putting a damper on my hitchhiking plans. 

fuck, i don't want to spend 35 euros (nealy 50usd) just for a 4hr journey.  :crankey:

fix the weather for me, plz?  kthxx.

i don't think the trashbag would work too well.  the point of hitchhiking is to actually get rides.  strangely enough, drivers are often much less willing to pick up crazy hobos wearing trashbags.

but really the main issue is that drivers are generally much less willing to pick up people in the rain, period.  they don't want you getting their car seats all wet.

I guess I thought that if it was raining they would put the two together, but I can see how they wouldn't want the seats wet I personally wouldn't care myself, wet things tend to dry over time.

i can't decide if i should go for it anyway, or just concede defeat and spring for the bus.  hitchwiki gives directions to a gas station where i can ask for rides right on the highway, but the directions are vague.  i'm not sure how far i'd need to walk in the rain, nor how busy the gas station is.  and the last time i tried to follow directions on hitchwiki, i ended up trekking over 10km and getting lost.

If it's cold and rainy I wouldn't but if it is still warm it might be worth a shot. I guess you have the experience under you belt now to make a knowledgeable decision more so than me.

it's cold enough that being wet would be quite unpleasant.  mid-50s or so.

i'm torn between my logical brain telling me it's a bad idea and my diminishing budget telling me i've been spending too much as of late.

mid 50's isn't all that bad I fell through some ice once during the winter and had to walk home completely wet in the dead of winter once.

i've got a shitty plastic disposable poncho.  rather like a bright yellow trashbag.  i don't like wearing it because it makes me look like a touristy tool.  but i guess sometimes you have to swallow yer pride.

Yeah, it was cold and rainy when I was in Spain a few months ago. Not really the type of weather you hope for going somewhere like Spain. You'd think they're too saucy to have rain and shit, but they do.

well it'll maybe be 2 or 3 years before i've made enough progress on my student loans to warrant another such trip.  but the next place i go will be tropical.  either southeast asia or south america.  so quality raingear sounds like a damn good idea.  you'll most likely be asked to remind me of this store a few years down the road.


and godmotherfuckindamnit.  this rain is a tricksy bitch.  it was getting lighter.  i was getting my hopes up.  thinking, "okay, it's not so bad out.  a bit more than a sprinkle.  this is totally doable".

but then WWWOOOOSSSHHHH.  it's cats and dogs again.  fucker.

FROGG TOGGS man. Seriously, best damn rain gear I've ever seen.
I've stayed bone dry in the middle of a torrential downpour. And it breathes.
It's sil-nylon so it is SUPER lightweight, one of those jackets and pants combo can pack into a size smaller than your fist.
Only downside is it's not SUPER durable.. as it is thin, so you gotta be careful you aren't bushwacking with it and going through thorn bushes and shit.. but it can take some abuse.

well.. it's like 3 hours later than i had intended on setting out.  but it looks like the rain is gone for a bit.  and i think there's still enough daylight to reach sevilla.  cross your fingers for me bitches.
