Is Africa oldschool or are other Continents like this? * 1
    #12396699 -

Quote:
Africa is probably the world's most religious continent, with more than 80% saying they believed in God in most countries. At least half of the Christians questioned expect Jesus Christ to return to earth during their lifetimes. In Ethiopia, 74% of Christians say they have experienced or witnessed the devil or evil spirits being driven out of a person and in Ghana, 40% of Christians say they have had a direct revelation from God. About half of all Muslims expect to see the reunification of the Islamic world under a single ruler, or caliph, in their lifetimes.

Sweden, Vietnam, and Denmark have the highest atheist population
I wonder what role religion will play in the future :strokebeard2:

i think religion has always been a part of tribal culture. im not sure what happened in sweden,  vietnam and denmark. i did here that people from denmark are the happiest in the entire world though.

that's an ignorant statement. i dont see any link between a lack of reason and belief in a higher power. if anything, the more i learned the more "god" revealed himself to me.

that's what the quotations were for. it depends on what you want to call it. there is a force or forces at work that are responsible for our actions on the micro level. and it/he/she has been revealed to me through observations. Synchronicities that are beyond chance, the power of love, witnessing nature at its most pristine. i dont necessarily agree with intelligent design, but i do have a suspicion that there was/is an intelligence involved with all that is.

not really considering i used to be agnostic. i wasnt looking for "god", it's just how it happened. and i said me b/c im speaking about myself, not because i think im special.

How are love and nature beyond chance?
Quote:
Studies in neuroscience have involved chemicals that are present in the brain and might be involved when people experience love. These chemicals include: nerve growth factor,[5] testosterone, estrogen, dopamine, norepinephrine, serotonin, oxytocin, and vasopressin.[6

i didnt say that,  dont put words in my mouth. and i see what youre doing trying to use science to explain emotion. the funny thing is science is nowhere near understanding the complexities of the brain or the human experience in itself. i also think it's funny that the construction of our own bodies is too advanced for our understanding. im not asking you to share my belief so dont waste your time trying to debunk it.

Nature can't be by chance, there's no way this could happen without a higher power

Why does it matter that we don't completely understand our bodies? That doesn't prove a single thing.

yeah i get it you disagree with me. get over yourself. you think showing me some pictures of dead mexicans is going to change my mind. it's all part of the system people die all the time, violence is alive and well just as love is. you cant have one without the other. at least for the time being you cant.

First of all, they're iraqi. Second of all my point was that it seems like you're just choosing the "beautiful" things in life and saying that's proof of a creator, I linked you to that picture because I feel like you are denying the sorrow in the world.

You still haven't answered my question concerning why you think a nice day and love cannot happen by chance

once again, never said that a "nice" day cannot be chance nor did i say that love cannot happen by chance. i said the POWER of love.  how could i live in america and deny the sorry of the world, we're responsible for a lot of it? i also never said anything about a creator or that i had proof of one. and in no way is our behavior toward one another an indication that "god" does not exist, if anything it has nothing to do with "god" whatsoever. we are free to make whatever choices we wish. you wanna copy and paste some more scientific "facts" from wikipedia? i think im on the brink of a breakthrough!

I'm willing to bet there's a negative correlation between religiosity and educational level. Seems that may explain the Africa stats you posted.

I will never understand why there are still tribal people out there.

I'd give up that lifestyle in a heartbeat for a more modern one.

Dr :ronpaul: says to stop trying to treat the side-effects of big government and focus on the core issues. End the Federal Reserve/audit the gold reserves at Fort Knox, abolish the IRS, end all wars and occupancies, stop the building of an empire that will inevitably fail, and cut all unconstitutional federal programs. Put the power back in the peoples' hands by ending this nanny-state.
