Psychologists and Marijuana

Whats been your experiences with psychologists and marijuana?


Im wondering if its just me, but ive yet to come across psychologists that are for regular use of marijuana...  and im not talking about moderate or medical use...

are the psychologists reading propaganda?        is there significance that marijuana stays in your system for 30 days?


if anyone has any factual information with evidence id love to see it so i can counter their points .  i see both sides of it but when you get clinical with marijuana it can get pretty damn confusing..        id  love to see proof from ether side, other than the classic arguments we've all been through

Damn, I would LOVE to find a therapist who enjoyed the occasional toke session.

But none of my ex-therapists would ever have admitted it, even if they had.

There are certainly psychologists who smoke pot, but they will never condone or admit that to their patients.

Chances are that if you are emotionally unstable, smoking pot probably isn't a good idea in the first place.

btw  back on topic-  a psychologist i recently saw told me that marijuana has the highest number of rehab entries from marijuana  and i explained its cause they offer a the alternative of jail but he still insisted  that people actually admitted themselves more than from any other drug for marijuana rehab...  :confused:

Well aren't those people admitting themselves in order to avoid jail or other punishment?

The one psychologist Ive had experience with didn't see marijuana use in general as a big deal at all, but was very concerned about everyday use. 

But that makes sense from a psychologist's point of view to me because there are so few people that can actually use marijuana daily without it being detrimental to their progress in life in some way.  And psychologists are going to want to discourage any factors(in this case weed) that may be making mental issues worse, or preventing them from getting better. Especially when there is such a small chance that using weed daily is going to be better for people with mental issues than if they were to abstain, or only use it occasionally.

personal experience i know that i wasn't as willing to work on myself when i was smoking (even somewhat regularly) as opposed to when i'm clean.  i've also found that if i'm clean for a long time and then toke once (even a small amount), i feel dumber for a few days.  that definitely isn't a good state to be in when taking therapy where the goal is to attempt to improve myself.

I've talked to one who was pretty indifferent about it. The other one, he saw it as a problem and was kind of an asshole about it. Basically tried to lie and make it sound like i was an addict so that insurance would pay for more sessions, some kind of weird loophole i guess.  He was just trying to help but still. I have a feeling it has to do with the fact that it does alter the way people think and act, even if slightly. It's probably easier to treat a sober person rather than someone who's taking mood altering drugs in a non-prescribed manner. The more external influences you have going on the more complicated the issue will be.

I used to talk to my psychologist about tripping all the time. He seemed cool with it and was boys with huston smith.  He was a cool chap.

I don't know much about psychologists but when I had therapy sessions with my mother (Forced) she always mentioned my marijuana use and they flip out and act like the world was ending, when in actuality they even mentioned I didn't need therapy and the ones in my family did.... (ironically, the ones who have never smoked marijuana)
