i can't wait until it's available in ohio. unfortunately, at&t have some gay ass deal here where they are the only company allowed to lay new fiber optic cables in columbus, and their service sucks.

my speed at school is 19down/8up but all streaming content is throttled :sad:

Well, I waited FIVE YEARS for this! It took 10 MONTHS to ready the 20 acre property before I could finally order it.

After having Comcunt for way over 10 years and all the problems that go with it, in just 12 hours of FiOS experience, I can say
without a doubt it was well worth the wait and I'll NEVER go back to cable!

As a plus, I'm saving over $50 a month for WAY more channels, WAY better Internet speed, and EXTREME unlimited phone service.

I'm quite the happy tripper! :awebig:

I have it but unfortunately I'm moving in a couple months into an apartment where I can't get it, damn! I have the 20mbs connection and love it. The huge advantage with it is the uploads though. I can upload a bunch of torrents at over 200kbs each and barely feel a hit when I'm surfing.

Who ever said they are getting 25mbs with comcast, what service is that? I have never been able to get more than 16 and it was never close to that. Also, if it's true, how much are you paying for it??

My bad man, bad choice of words. I just saw the new XF packages they have..pretty cool. I used to have comcast a few years ago and they didn't have anything like that. I guess they're trying to compete with FIOS.

EDIT: I wasn't talking to you, I was referring to the person (WakeboardrB) who said they are getting those speeds with Comcast.

I believe I have the Blast package, combined with a pretty low density neighborhood. I actually get speeds much faster than my next door neighbor, which has the same package. So who knows.

Either way, I'll be dumping it for Fios in the next month once all the Mexicans are done laying fiber optic in the neighborhood. They've been working on it for the past 2 1/2 weeks, so hopefully they are almost done.

I have it.  It's awesome.

I have the 25 mbps down/15 up plan. The speeds are guaranteed, and I have never seen them fluctuate at all.

That is faster than when I've had Comcast in two separate locations.

I get a better selection of HD channels, a box with HDMI output (which Comcast didn't have available for me at one location) NO download cap, and it's 20 bucks cheaper per month than Comcast.

My experience with FIOS has been night and day when compared with Comcrap.  I'll never go back.

at the speeds TM is getting, yeah, it's possible. i don't think there are any cable providers with 50mb/s options.

cable is peaking, but fiber will only get faster over time. it's not any more expensive, so why not go for it?

I've worked for Alcatel-Lucent for 2 summers, and they provide all of the equipment for the infrastructure of many DSL providers, the biggest one being AT&T.

Having tested this equipment quite a bit, I guarantee that ANY company out there could offer higher speeds with the current infrastructure.  I routinely ran tests on POTS that would run at 50MB/s on several racks of modems all at once coming from the same DSLAM.  It's all very possible, they just don't offer it to you because they wouldn't make as much money then.
