Adding gypsum after straining Coir??

So iv decided to do a bulk grow to coir using this tek:

I would also like to add some gypsum for extra nutrients, My question is when should i add it? during the pasteurization?

I plan on pasteurizing in a lot of hot water, then straining it out before i line my tubs. straining it will cause the gypsum to be lost so can i put it in after? and how do i make it sterile?

Don't bump your threads within 24 hours!

If you want to make very sure, pasteurize your coir.
It isn't absolutely necessary though.

Anyway, I'd suggest to either use method this wonderful picture shows:rolleyes:



or, when it's only a small amount of substrate to use jars to fill in the coir.

This way you can hydrate the substrate to field capacity and don't have to bitch around the moisture content afterwards.

oh sorry, i didnt know i couldnt bump my thread, im new lol

Anyway is there a way i can starilize the gypsum, and then add it after pasterizing?

You mix in the gypsum before you pasteurize.
Again, I'd really suggest to do one of the methods I suggested above. It's a lot easier!
