mycobags- do all strains work?
    #641300 - 05/23/02 05:05 AM (21 years, 4 months ago)

i was looking for information on successes and failures using mycobags. the mycobag tek reminds me a bit of the hippie neglect tek, and i would imagine that certain strains fare better in those types of conditions.

my friend did a couple of homemade mycobags and they colonized well, but didn't fruit at all. basically she just injected PC'd birdseed bags with liquid mycelium. she thought that was pretty much all there was to it. but no fruits.

trying to get to the bottom of it.

My buddy tells me that almost any cub will work in the myco bags. Of course Pans and Azures or any dung or wood loving fungus wont produce. The myco bag is a grain formula. Your friend may have had problems with moisture content not being high enough or being to much. I had some rye bags that colonized very quickly and fully but never fruited either so I understand where you re coming from.

Pure grains do not fruit well invitro. Try adding some vermiculite, coir or peat moss to the mix before sterilization.
