It happens.  With Net Neutrality you wouldn't be allowed to say STFU.

banding together is called collusion btw. just because its offered to the public, doesnt make it a public service. you are just fucking wrong and accept it. you prob live in america which is a fucking CAPITALIST country. do you think you live in a communist country or something? free enterprise is what this country is supposed to be based around. dont hate on shit because you think you are entitled to something you arent. if a company cant determine their price, which they compete with others, than that isnt a capitalist country. if they take the risk they should be allowed to collect a profit. PRIVATE CORP ARE FOR PROFIT!

just because the internet could/should be regulated doesnt mean this is no longer a free enterprise market.

the auto industry is a all privately owned and controlled but they still need to adhere to the standards set by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

the food industry is privately owned and controlled but they need to adhere to standards set by the Food and Drug Administration.

not all government regulation is bad. believe it or not, a lot of it is actually necessary.

im not arguing that it shouldnt be regulate, however the way the current situation is and the way it seems the FCC went at controlling the internet companies i agree with the court. additionally i think the most important part of the event was that the court said that their should be a regulation, however further bills were needed in gov to make it reasonable. basically i think there needs to be due process to change the current system.

Due process was enacted. From that Due process we now have the obligation to define what type of regulation is necessary. That is what this conversation/topic/idea is about. How to effectively regulate a free market product. Just like everything else in this country.

Not yet they aren't. And that is where I agree with you. Until the time comes when ISPs are officially recognized as utility companies, this debate will continue to drag it's feet. Without a proper designation the entire idea is useless.

Maybe we should focus our attention on whether or not these companies ARE utilities?

I don't understand the point of net neutrality regulation.

Customer pays for 256k speed internet access.

Customer has access to any bit on the internet at 256k or faster...  There is a contract, and if the ISP fails to provide that minimum coverage then the customer can sue (or form a class action lawsuit)

If Google wants to pay the ISP some amount to deliver Google packets at 512k, how is that harming anyone?  Yahoo still gets their packets delivered, the customer still recieves all packets at 256k or better.

Now if ISP convinces enough of the internet companies to pay them (this is kinda like advertising)  they could lower their prices, delay price increases, or even provide a cheap/possibly free service alternative.

And getting the FCC involved in regulating any part of internet is a bad thing.  that will result in censorship of the public network...

Note the FCC can regulate free speech on cable, broadcast TV and Radio, Why the heck would you invite the greatest censorship agency in the world into our internet???

I still say the FCC is completely 100% useless. Fucking feds better hope I never get into office, they'll all be fired.

We should have government funded programs to stop government programs like these from ever forming. Like a freedom gestapo to patrol around stopping people from infringing on others' rights, especially the police. "Leave people alone or we will make you leave them alone".

I don't know why but I just have this dream that some day maybe we can form some sort of freedom police to police the police and our government. Keep them all in line.

I just want to get something clear here, using your logic, you agree with showing porn between the hours of 12 and 4. Correct? As you are for no regulation whatsoever.

Does that honestly sound like a good idea to you? The FCC regulates because, without it, people like you would show porn during the hours most children are watching TV.

Get your facts straight, the FCC regulates hours when most children are subject to be listening/watching. After the hours of 10 pm the airwaves are largely unregulated.

We aren't discussing whether or not the FCC should have the power to censor information on the internet, we are discussing whether or not ISPs have that power. Every automobile company is subject to the strict guidelines imposed by the Highway Safety Commission. Without it, corporations like Toyota or Ford will continue to build inferior products, AND not tell the public about it for 4 months. (As in Toyotas recent recall case.)

I agree that the FCC should NOT have the power to censor ANYTHING on the internet, but without any regulation the corporations will continue to control our lives. 1 censored website at a time. Comcast Censors Political Content

Who gives a shit if they play porn at hours children are watching tv, its no worse than them watching violent shit that they do play between 12 and 4.  Its a parents job to regulate what their kids watch, not the government.  TV blows anyway though, internet is much better.

The novel is great, check it out if ya get the chance. One of the main problems the story deals with is vigilantes becoming criminals themselves and the endless paradox of "watchmen".

Alan Moore is amazing :awetongue:
