For those of you who are part of this prestigious torrenting website and haven't noticed... There is a freeleech going on to help you ratio. Here is the website announcement.

"Ratio worries got you down?

Afraid you can't attract members of the opposite sex with your pitifully small buffer?

Do you find yourself wishing you could sell vital organs in exchange for upload credit?

We've got the solution for you!

Effective immediately, until 23:59 server time on Easter Monday, every FLAC file on the site will be freeleech (if you download it, it will not count towards your ratio - but if you upload on it, it will). Additionally, all groups on the site with a FLAC, a V0, a V2, and a 320 MP3 will be entirely freeleech. This applies to new torrents as well, so if you download a FLAC and transcode it to V0, V2 and 320, that entire group will go freeleech!"

So go and get your music!

im at a 1.04 now. ive got a pretty decent buffer even if it is a joke (unlikely).

any recommendations that arent dubstep or the dead? :wink:

i was never on OiNK but what is pretty awesome. you can get damn near anything. theres still one or two things here and there that i cant find but i listen to some pretty obscure stuff..

what.cd is the king of all music torrenting sites hands down. I don't have any invites right now... maybe at the end of the month or something.

My ratio right now is about 1.64. This should really help out...

you guy should check out Dan Reeder. i just saw his new album was on there. downloading now.

hes like this gristly old time country/blues-y guy. he does some really funny songs too.

Well it does sound good. I loved OiNK, in that it helped you find music you would never have done before - you can't get that on generic torrent sites. I'm guessing there's something similar in there?

And without trying to sound like a leech, an invite wouldn't go unappreciated

There's tons of "collages" that are like packages of music you look for. For example, 1000 albums to listen to before you die, 100 albums to get high to, 100 albums to trip to, Essential Jazz, etc. There's countless amounts of them.

They have everything popular and A LOT of obscure stuff. I look for old, rare vinyls to upload usually.

At the bottom of an artist's page, there is a web of related artists.

There are seriously soooo many features that help you discover new music.

awesome, for some reason it's impossible to get my upload ratio up in college, so now I can actually download stuff without waiting until I move off-campus!

Well, April Fools or not, I just downloaded 36 torrents. :x

A lot of them were to replace shitty 128kbps albums I had with V0 mp3.

I saw that this morning. It's helping my ratio quite a bit. Looks like the trackers are crapping out a bit.

its very hard, i googled it a few weeks ago, found you have to join their irc chat inorder to pass a series of test about bitrates/transcoding i failed all 3 times, and so cannot get in now unless invited, the questions i got worng were simple mistakes but you need to pass 100%, these guys holding the keys are tinghter than a nuns chuff, there is a good site i use called torrentech.org which is easer to get in and very good, but would still like to get in to what.cd if anyone here would care to invite me

On their website it says

"Edit: Update your DNS entries for tracker.what.cd and possibly restart your client so it announces to the right IP. The correct ip is xxxx."

Do I need to do this and if so, how? I restarted my client (ktorrent), but all of my torrents are still saying that there is a problem with the tracker. + 5 shrooms for help.

Oh and I'm using ubuntu 9.10 and a linksys wrt54gv1 with DD-WRT v24-sp2 if that is relevant.
