What's the first record/CD you ever bought?
    #5562023 - 04/27/06 08:59 AM (17 years, 9 months ago)

For me it was three albums in one go in the early 1980s:

Welcome To Hell - VENOM
Come Out And Play - TWISTED SISTER
Iron Maiden - IRON MAIDEN

Twisted Sister was the tamest of the three, but still good tunes & lyrics to this day.

Iron Maiden was barely known back then, and they already rocked.

Venom was the band which put "evil metal" on the map with angsty lyrics like "Ashes to ashes, dust to dust; If God won't have me, then the Devil must"

Which music was the first ever you bought on record/CD?

The first music I ever bought was on cassette tape. It was probably the late 80's or early 90's I don't remember exactly.

I bought two...with my birthday money.

Vanilla Ice: Ice Ice Baby
Paula Abdul: Spellbound

I think I still remember all the lyrics to Ice Ice Baby.

First CD: NIN - Broken

First Music: That's a bit tougher. I mostly listened to stuff that my mom owned or that was bought for me. Stuff like Aerosmith, Iggy Pop, AC/DC.. but I also remember owning, and enjoying, a Gloria Estefan and the Miami Sound Machine tape.

Mine was Rob Zombie - Hellbilly Deluxe

btw, the 80's were the worst years of music in existance. Minus a few bands like Queen and Van Halen.

Me and my friends used to exchange cassette tapes, and I always copied them, so I *bought* my first one quite late - sometime in '94/'95. I'm not really sure, but I think it was this one (:smirk:):

And I had a lot of Iron Maiden tapes too :headbanger:

First CD - Bj?rk's Post.

First album I bought myself was the tape of Green Jello.  With the 3 Little Pigs Song on it.

First CD was Snoop Dogg's Doggystyle.  That was interesting to have my parents walk in to my room one day whilst I was listening to it. :tongue2:

Record would probably have been The Police's Greatest Hits

CD was most definitely Tom Waits Franks Wild Years

I still like the latter

Barring all the music and mix tapes my older sisters exposed
me to, the first cassette tape I received, was gifted to me - as
I was so young that I hadn't money of my own.  It was a
Crash Test Dummies
tape, "The Ghoasts That Haunt Me"https://files.shroomery.org/files/06-17/615609972-CrashTest-GhoastsHauntMe.jpg>

First CD that I was gifted, was MC Hammer's "Too Legit To
Quit" album.  I was in elementary school - wore the puffy
pants - and the CD was just the icing on the cake.  First CD I
purchased was Alanis Morissette's "Jagged Little Pill" ...
these were the hits of my elementary school career - and as
an impressionable youth, I was sucked right into the mass
media machine.  Of course there were the hundreds of tapes,
CD's, and radio rip's that my older sisters were playing which
also affected my listening preferences.  This material largely
stemmed from the 70's and 80's

The first music videos I experienced were my father's
Betamax collection of a four song set from Dire Straights
"Brothers in Arms" - namely the tracks: Money for Nothing,
Walk of Life, So Far Away, & Brothers in Arms

He also had a black and white original Doors VHS tape from
their September 1968 performance at the Roundhouse in
London that I only recently rediscovered.  Back at such a
young age upon initial consideration, I wasn't primed for
music that was so.. "out there"

Yep, in a nutshell one might say it was the above albums that
forever manipulated my mind and being... or not :tongue2:
Even so, I'll always keep any tracks from these selections close to my heart

Music Rocks!
