I'm not sure, but you might want to check out Charles Baudelaire's Artificial Paradises or Thomas de Quincey's Confessions of an English Opium Eater.

As for books unrelated to drugs, I'm not sure either, but you can't go wrong with Mikhail Bulgakov's The Master and Margarita. One of the best books of all time.

Have you read "The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test" i forget who its by, but i read it in like 2 days, couldnt put it down. Another good book is "A million Little Pieces"

o man. i enjoy reading about all manner of things related to drugs. can you be a little more specific about what you like?
there are some great free ones right here at the shroomery you can check out. Stanislav Grof is always a good read.
i like reading psychedelic studies too. i can certainly recommend some good ones, but that might be too in depth for some.

if your looking for something more along the lines of fiction, go find yourself a copy of Go Ask Alice. its actually not fiction, but a true story, but it is a short read that all people i know who have read it loved.

touche. ok it is said to be a true story. it certainly is more plausible than reefer madness. though now that i think about it, the book does perpetuate the demonization of psychedelics and ignores the potential benefits. huh.

i haven't read it in many years so i haven't really thought of it that way. it is still a captivating story though.

if youre into a drug related book check out Prozac Nation if you havent already.

its a little heavy on the angst-y teenage girl tone but overall its a decent read.

The Hasheesh Eater by Fitz Hugh Ludlow

You may be interested in Drugstore Cowboy, by James Fogles. The subject and story are interesting, but I thought that the actual writing was of poor quality (not terrible, just not worthy of any literary accolades). It's a quick and easy read, and I did enjoy the story, but in my opinion Fogle had difficulty with character development and constructing dialogue.
