Um it is definitely a good idea but it is thousands of times more difficult to grow truffles, well maybe not that high but it takes much longer. I was recently enrolled in a Mycology class at my University and I did a minor report of Tuber melanosporum, the black truffle which is very similar to the white truffles. I would really love to try some because some of the thing people have to say about them make you think they are even more amazing then magical fungi. Anyways, it involves inoculating hazelnut or oak saplings and then planting them, make sure that no other EMFs colonizing the roots before they do because now you get to wait ten more years before you are going to see any fruiting, which you really can only detect with the help of a trusty truffle dog or truffle hog.
Good Luck

It's not a realistic option. It might be if you're willing to dedicate a substantial part of your life to, but not as a means to make a quick buck on the side. That's why those things are so fucking expensive.

Yeah its possible but it will take years and there is no guarantee that truffles are going to grow.
