How to harvest klip dagga?

I'll be getting some klip dagga seeds soon and was doing some investigation on the subject, i live in Mexico so I'll be growing outdoors, when and how should i harvest the flowers and seeds?
also, how large of a plant pot will work with these guys?

Edit: Whats the best way to dry and cure the leafs/flowers?

I have a one in a 2.5 gallon pot doing great. It's about 18" high above dirt, but is bushy and flowering in 30F lows and 40F highs. I can't wait to see it's growth in the spring! If you want to keep them in pots during the growing season, and don't want to transplant them for a while, use 2 gallon pots. They shouldn't get rootbound for quite some time. If you don't mind spending time transplanting, I would start them in peat pucks or something similar and work your way up as it grows.

harvest leaves wheen its rally dry and hot, the leaves should look resinous/shiny.  if it rains, its washed off.


seeds re easy.  when tehy are dry, clip them into a paper bag or plastic tub and shake em  like hello.  thge seeds are heavy and go to teh bottom and the light vegetation stays up top.

picking flowers are a pain in the ass.....

1-3gal pots like impeach said...or in ground.  their roots aren't massive.  careful though, they are invasive.

haha, no, for tea/smoking the flowers, i think i found some wild dagga, but i'm not sure if it really is what i think it is, here are some pics:

Yes,

"Klip Dagga" is Leonotis nepetifolia
                  &
"Wild Dagga" is Leonotis leonurus

If the flowers are potent enough, it can be an ok smoke. Though if you do want to smoke it you would be better off mixing it in with a few other things.
Tea is pretty good though:thumbup:

i was thinking about doing an extract with ethanol, maybe 5x, also, whats best for tea, leafs or flowers?

i have played with klip (thats what you have, NEPETIFOLIA).  i am lek kbg, got nothing.

but i do find it great in smoking blends.  works quite well with tobacco and some other plants.

it does nothing for me alone either, and i ahve made some impressively large/strong doses...but this little word called synergy isn't all myth :wink:

dry up up some nicotiana leaf, and mic 50/50 with dagga leaf...you will see the difference, though its not even to finish one "cigarette"

I tend to agree with drift that it is L. nepetifolia based on the leaf structure: Cordate. Where as wild dagga, L. leonurus has lanceolate leaves and the flowers are usually erect.
