Some klip dagga extracting experiments.




basically it is to extract various parts of the plant. I will be doing 2 types of extractions: 95% Ethanol and Acetone. i have already tried smoking the plants raw with no results.

I will be extracting: Flowers, stems (no leaves), leaves (cut at bease of leafy part, no stems) and seed pods (with or without seeds....i just shake seeds loose but some remain).

I will be using an equal amount of material by powder volume (i know weight would be better but i dont have a good scale). i will also be using the same amount of alcohol/acetone by volume (XX ml).



Preperation

Cut the plants (or pick the flowers). and allow to dry.

I am drying the flowers in open air inside in a dark warm place....this takes 2-3 days in my home to get a little crispy.

I am hang drying the other parts by hanging them in a dark place...this takes 3-8 days (the thick stems take a while to dry out fully as i leave them whole not cut them up). Once dried and crispy i will grind them up in a blender.

Here are some pics of the plants that are being used. because i need a lot of flowers, this may take a couple more months. i have about 70 or so plants i am using for this experiment, give or take.

Hey man, how did these extracts end up turning out? Any noticeable effects from the finished product?

I was going to try a simple acetone extract and i'm wondering if its worthwhile.

my second attempt at resiny plants will happen soon.  my plants are about 1 foot tall now, so next month i think.
