Meditation is by far the best thing one can do to help maintain a stable mental state

I've felt this and diagnosed it to be S.A.D. (Seasonal Affective Disorder). Whenever it gets cloudy or just no sun at all my mood goes down a little, for instance today I woke up really early a little after dawn. The morning marine layer didn't clear up so I thought the day was going to be overcast again, but as soon as the sun showed up bright and clear my mood went up.

So if anything you can try light therapy...

light therapy? I dont think sitting under hot fucking lights will help me much haha. Im going to try to get into the doc and maybe he will give me something to hold me out until summer.

I need to move the hell away from here. too much bad shit hanging in the past.

I think i feel a lot like you at the moment, been trying to fight the depression on as many fronts as possible but i think i have to admit i'm at the end of my tether.
Fighting causes a lot of tension within and i think i need to get the hell out of here really but the longer it goes on the more i doubt my ability to cope.

Had a dream last night of sunny days and sandy beaches and it was so upsetting to wake up in my old life,,, :frown:.

Kind of lost the will to fight but it feels better in a strange way.

I know what you mean about causing tension inside. I feel like Im ripping apart my guts. I dont want to cause myself any medical problems tweaking out. It cant be good for my heart. When my heart thumps, I can see my entire chest down to my stomach thump. Its way worse when Im feeling the pressure.

Ive never been to the beach. Want to go with me?

It's not the heat of the lamps, it's the colour spectrum, that makes your mind think you're getting a certain amount of natural daylight, and it is used by people with SAD, so if you have SAD it could help.

What did you think about what i said about CBT?

That would be great, just to chill without the constant stress would be nice.
I'm constantly fiddling with a lighter or tapping my feet because if i don't i feel like i'm going to explode lol.

I feel like i'm at the point of doing something reckless just to shake things up, taking the car and driving anywhere without looking back, i know it's not realistic though.
I wait for summer too and i'm big on gardening, if i'm not happy with my situation though doing anything is just something to keep me preoccupied and that's becoming more and more obvious the older i get.

I'm looking after a terminally ill parent, you always feel like an insignificant cog in the process when you're not the one who's ill.
My friends drift away because of my depression, i have no relationship with my brother at all.

For all the effort i can put into this situation, at the end of it i'm going to be without friends and family, homeless because i doubt they'll let me stay here although the council will probably stick me in a room somewhere. I'm not allowed to work so i'll be jobless without any experience.

It's no wonder my motivation struggles, when i get to the point that i can't function properly i'm crippled with guilt because i'm not doing my job properly.

I know there's more beyond this so i'll never give up, but i'm 27 and never really lived any adult life yet so something's going to have to change soon.

It's the thought of a better day that keeps us going though.

Yeah, OK. :eyeroll: Depression isn't caused by ignoring your problems and it doesn't make anyone a pussy. Pills aren't always a crutch. Sometimes they are necessary to sort out real imbalances in the brain.

If you seriously think depression is just something "a real man deals with" then you just haven't got a lot of sense.

Dealing with it IS getting help and it's not something you can just choose to get over, any more than a man can choose to get over being gay. Getting over having balls would be easier, for lots of folks.

I guess you subscribe to the Tom Cruise School of Psychiatry.

I never would have been so harsh if he hadn't turned down meditation. It's hard it's painful but its the only way to go. Pills are bull shit If you have a chemical imbalance you don't need pills, and Ive already posted a video on the subject. I'm not undermining the seriousness of depression but at the same time I'm not going to say  there are short cuts. Depression usually isn't something that happens over night when you neglect your consciousness your asking for problems. You listen to your "dr" Phil and I'll listen to my Jung and Freud.
