need an ID TX, is this turkey tail?
    #11852360 -

sorry bout tha pic quality, I only had a cell phone. Are these turkey tail? because that would be awesome..

And if so, what would be the best way to go about collecting spores? It would probably be best to get sum tissue and put on agar, isolating a nice clean strain. But I have yet to aquire the materials needed for that. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

The top one is a dried out reishi, Ganoderma lucidum.  I have no idea about the second.  Turkey tails are thin and have a white pore surface underneath.

Reishi are pretty agressive in culture and are relatively easy to clone.  Those are dead, though.  Wait for spring and find fresh, shiny red specimens.  They're very common in TX so it shouldn't be too difficult.

They look a little wrinkly for turkey tail, but they could just be old or dry.

Could be though, I'm waffling. Wait for an expert.

Now that I looked at the enlarged photo, they are definitly not Tramates versicolor.

The top one looks like a badly worn ganoderma species, the bottom one could be a trametes species, but I'm definitely not sure of that.

Good chance that it is a turkey tail.

Try the totally true turkey tail test.
