Van living
    #11755359 -

down by the river, or in otherwise friendly and resource rich environments

I came across this website just now and am getting more and more of a kick out of this lifestyle of total freedom.  freedom from worries and responsibility.  some of you might remember my "pimp my van" thread the other day in which i professed my desire to outfit a van as a mobile motel/entertainment palace.  well, this website shall add more fuel to the fire of any van dwelling hopefuls.

http://cheaprvliving.com

so what do you all think?  i know i'd get looked down on by society at large, but that doesn't bother me...and the first thing people get to know about me won't be that i live in a van down by the river.

I'd rather live in an RV.

It's one thing to simply enjoy a style of life that one enjoys, but it's another thing altogether to refer to another person's choice as "wrong" or to rationalize their behavior as being pathological or resulting from some sort of inadequacy or failing so as to create a sense of superiority or separation as yet another projection of a personal fear or control issue.

i don't think i need a lot of indoor space.  just enough to sit, lay, cook, and hang out watching movies/playing video games.  i need to be able to open double back doors to a nice park or vista and that should be enough.

an RV gets bad gas mileage and might get cracked down on for sleeping in it if not in a pay zone.  a van can hit the road easily and cheaply and can park anywhere.

discreet solar panels are a must.

Well as long as I pimped it up so I could cook and watch movies/video, then I would actually prefer to live in a van.

I would also get satellite internet and TV.

The only thing that sort of sucks is that you couldn't get mail delivered to your van, but that's nothing a P.O. box couldn't fix!

I'm going to try the van lifestyle in ~2-3 years.

I'm buying my land this year, I don't believe I could drop everything and live the lifestyle without having a plot to return to.

I'm probably going to do that as soon as I buy a van, and pimp it out.

who needs mail anyway?

also, satellite tv and internet is a great idea, but you could probably find free wifi zones in every neighborhood if you went on a walk with your free mobile device.

you live in san fran frugally right?  are you homeless, generally?  i swear, van living can provide all the necessary comforts to live that frugal life but without the homeless feel.  my whole family is on edge...thinking i'm going to go AWOL on a scheme like this  but i won't leave without saying goodbye...

I think i'll save up for a couple years and then hit the road.  there's opportunity still around here so i can't leave yet.

I would probably want to stay as far away from society as possible for as long as possible, so I would actually kind of need it.

I don't live in San Fran, but I do live in the San Fran Bay Area; if I did this van thing, I would probably live somewhere in So-Cal for a while because it's warmer down there. :sunny:

You don't have to tell them shit, just take them to a hotel room, preferably one with a hot-tub.

I've just read that entire site.

Fuck shitting in a plastic bag and pissing in a bottle :crankey:

I think I'll just go back to my original idea of building a shed out in the middle of nowhere, at least I'll have a compost toilet.

If you are living in an urban area, then you could just go to any random store and take a shit there. If you're living out in the woods or something, then you could just take a shit outside.

I work in transport and even then I have a very hard time finding public bathrooms.

I couldn't imagine not having the luxury of a "base" and constantly be on the search for a place to piss/shit.

Say what you want, some of the most gorgeous, best lays I've ever had were dreadheads.

I don't doubt that their facial/body features are gorgeous, it just seems sort of nasty to me for a girl to have dreads.
