microbrewery beer is the best. I don't care what kind, I like it all. If you're talking something a bar will actually have, then guiness. It tastes sortof chocolaty to me. Very rich and flavorful.

Come down to SD sometime man. Im going on vacation starting next week, but ill be back in January. I dont think SD has that notable of a dining scene, but Im sure theres some such nonsense around here

Oh and you should also see if you can get a seat at Totoraku. You need to know someone to get into the door or somehow get to know the chef. Personally I would never eat there no matter how famous as I hate the idea of an exclusive restaurant like that, but the food is supposed to be excellent.

eh, i'm personally not as much of a big fan of fine japanese dining.

i just dont feel the need to pay large amounts for Japanese cuisine, which in my opinion, isn't that special.

It's a bit overglorified by non asians who somehow still think sushi should be expensive.

i think personally i was still a bit put off by the price people charge for sushi. That's all.

People forget that sushi is and was originally meant as a street food. Something eaten out of conveniance.

Nowadays ppl pay up the ass for sushi, which is no different than going to a fine dining place and blowing a couple hundred bucks on a basket of chicken mcnuggets.

thats just my opinion though.

I think the idea is that one is getting higher quality fish. And frankly most better places do have better salmon, i.e the nice fatty part of the salmon that melts in your mouth. However you can find reasonable priced places with good fish. I also think its not worth the high prices for the highly rated places. Sushi is the kind of thing where you search around, find a place you dig and are comfortable in and start patronizing. I havent looked in SD yet, but in past cities Ive lived in Ive been able to find great places, good prices and cheap sake with entertaining people
