Cardboard mushroom culture

So far im really impressed with cardboard culture. I had a local oyster i tried to clone to agar, i took the extra pieces and tossed in the back yard. The agar clone got bacteria and was tossed. I really wanted this oyster ! A week later i went to the back yard and got  a few pieces that i had thrown away and put them on cardboard. In about 2 weeks it was fully colonized and pinning!

I have also cloned kuritake, wine caps and shaggy manes to cardboard. I did notice with the wine caps, smaller stem butt pieces maybe best. I observed the larger stem butts after a few weeks often got trich . Also the larger stem butts harbored fungus gnat eggs. I will  post some pix when i get time.

yea im really thinking of trying to grow some ediables with my 7 yr old son he seems to really be intrested id love to help him do a class project using cardboard ill be staying tuned

if you need an easy edible to grow
i got you covered

oysters are easy and fast
and will grow on almost anything

oysters on cardboard would be a great class project let em know about there ability to clean up oil spills and teach about recyling cant wait :whoo:
