Well you can't in good faith debate with them. Not if you mean by debate, an agreement to search for the closest approximation to truth you can find using reason, logic and evidence. IMO they muck up the forum.

Well that would be a flaw of the poster.  For all we know an ultimate truth exists but we just haven't been properly convinced of it yet.  When those descriptions you list cross over into flaming is when you should draw the line.  Of course that line will be up to the moderator's discretion but trying to ban people just for making a philosophical claim is a bit ridiculous.

This sounds like a fallacy of "half-truths" and of "circular reasoning".

You cannot define something with the something you are trying to define, and a lot of times that's what you get with people who tend to think they know the truth. 

Nobody can relate the Color Red to a man who has never been sighted@!!

Why do people who say the ultimate truth can not be known by a human being, get so peeved when another human being claims to know it?
If you are so 100% sure it can not be known, then why do people who claim to know it get your goat so much?
If you were completely fulfilled & certain in your conviction that it can not be known, it would not bother you in the slightest that other people claim to know it.

Just as the one who really does know the ultimate truth will not get peeved when people say he/she does not know it, if they are pretending to know it then they probably will get dragged into some pointless 'debate' over it, if you really know the ultimate truth then you don't need to proove anything to anyone, your fulfilled.

(this isn't adressed to lakefingers, just to the topic in general)

How would it be possible if one is totally invested in their POV? Now you could say that a seed of doubt could be planted for later use. That could happen for sure but that's not really the goal of this forum.

It could also be asked why one who knows ultimate truth needs to be posting in a forum that is about the search for truth? Unless it's for preaching or proselytizing a rigid POV.

No, I don't think that banning is a solution for almost anything, but especially not for this.
Someone has a belief, so what? As long as they're not disrupting the course of a discussion and they're not polluting the thread with attacks, let them be. And if they do these things, then they'll be banned according to the rules we already have, and not for being fundies! :shrug:
IMO, if you're really interested in helping the forum with this matter, you might send them some warnings re-explaining them the rules of the forum, and why it makes more sense to stick to them.

How can a fundie interrupt the course of a discussion, by only being a fundie?
There must be at least another person that keeps flaming and insisting that he replies, and this is how a thread can derail, but this doesn't mean that it derailed because of the fundie, but rather because of the interaction between the fundie and other people. I thought the people usually get warnings or even banned for stuff like this, regardless of the nature of the fight. :shrug:
