here's a view from the Central Ave. Bridge on the West Side.
It's mixed residential with industrial corridors along truck routes and train tracks
along this stretch for as far as the eye can see from downtown all the way into the suburbs.
Thanks for the compliment Morshum. :smile:  Just sharing a little bit of my daily routine with you.  I would like to get a good digital camera and take some serious pics.  There's so much to see!!!

to provide more of a sense of scale this is the basically the same view zoomed out a little more. That's an old General Mills cereal elevator in foreground and a guardrail and a billboard on the viaduct. It goes up maybe two or three stories (30 feet) above ground. Down below is train tracks and a police station. There's a huge lot the cops use for vehicular training exercises. edit- - Oh and Grand Avenue crosses beneath as well --thus the police area hdqtrs here was dubbed "Grand Central Station". It covers a police area which includes dozens of West Side open air drug markets (china white --more like animal tranquilizer--, and of course "rocks"--better known as crack). This would be where Smashing Pumpkin "D'arcy" was taken after she allegedly tried to cop rocks a few years ago.

Thanks AJ!  I'll try to get some shots of the drug spots --though I  will be risking getting shot.  Actually that's how I lost my last video camera. :laugh:  This punk leaned in the window to talk to me and snatched my shit.  i was a pussy and let the fucker go.  Well, it was only a camera and some papers. :crazy:

What? I let my guard down cuz this kid put up a front --like he wanted to know how much to go somewhere. I rolled down the passenger window to talk to him and let him lean in a bit. He was just some punk hanging out (i should have seen it ). Then he grabs my backpack --sitting right there on the seat-- and starts jogging off. Upon refection i realized I should have killed the engine jumped out and beat his ass. He did have friends around but they probably wouldn't have jumped me --then again I am a white guy. By the way your sig is rad.

Some of your ducks?  You crazy motherfucker! :smile:  How many ducks do you have? Ducks are hilarious.  There's lots of them on the river in my neighborhood.  I like the babies.

hehehehe, yeah man, i used to have more ducks, now we've got one male duck and 4 females, and one big mean bastard goose. i raised most of the ducks from babies, theyre so cute when theyre just little yellow fluffy guys :smile:



theres a pic of the goose and you can  see the female white duck in the backround, that pic is from a while ago. since then we've had to seperate the goose from the male white duck, cause the goose would try to get his love on with the female white duck, and the male white duck would attack the goose because thats his woman. and the goose would just beat the hell out of the duck, but the duck wouldnt stop comming at him. the goose completely fucked up the ducks leg, he can barely walk now :frown: he just sits in the hay or floats in one of his little pools, seems quite happy though. when we seperated them we though it would only be fair to keep the male white duck in with the female white duck, so i think hes happy.
its funny, he still tries to attack at the goose through the fence hehe.

Si, si.  I really need to learn Spanish.  Yes, you can get authentic anything (almost) here.  It's a great restaurant town.  We have a large Latino population. 
This was my favorite place for pork burritos for a long time. "El Charro" Their mole sauce was the best.  I'll put some pics up of taquerias. :cool: 
this is a homeless person's camp on a vacant lot.  They have to share with the skunks, raccoons, possums, and rats.  I saw some giant rats today.  No pics sorry.

nice pictures, thanks for sharing. Ive never lived in a big city I prefer the country life myself. Maybe one day I move to the city but not right now. The closest city to me is Vancouver which is a small compared with Chicago.

I would prefer the country life too.  It is somewhat exciting in Chicago but it's far from healthy. I breathe exhaust fumes a lot --especially when I bike to work--but also while driving.  I'm always exposed to the public and whatever ailments they might have
--I could tell you stories. 
I haven't got any pics worth putting up lately.  I wanna capture some rats just for you Jimmy! :laugh:

Cool thread, I live in Detroit so I see some heavy getto stores and other things all the time, looks familiar. Chicago is a cool city, I've visited a few times.

Your camera DOES suck. You shold go for the nikon coolpix 990 or 995. It's the best p&s camera out there. A little killer on the batteries, but if you turn of the LCD viewfinder it's ok.
